Number of people receiving one-time social insurance benefits decreased

Regarding social insurance, the Ministry of Finance said that in the first quarter of 2025, the Social Insurance of provinces and centrally run cities resolved monthly social insurance benefits for 20,925 people, an increase of 36.27% over the same period in 2024 (of which 15,396 people were pensioners, an increase of 52.03% over the same period in 2024; 4,947 people died, an increase of 4.68% over the same period in 2024; 582 people were victims of occupational accidents and diseases, an increase of 15.71% over the same period in 2024).

248,895 people received one-time social insurance benefits, down 19.22% compared to the same period in 2024 (of which one-time social insurance was 197,659 people, down 26.04% compared to the same period in 2024).

2,103,706 people enjoying sickness, maternity, and health recovery benefits, an increase of 7.54% over the same period in 2024, of which: 1,695,181 people are sick, an increase of 11.55% over the same period in 2024; 328,821 people are pregnant, a decrease of 7.67% over the same period in 2024; 79,704 people are recuperating, a decrease of 0.89% over the same period in 2024.

"It can be seen that the number of people receiving one-time social insurance benefits decreased by 26.04% compared to the same period in 2024, showing that employees clearly understand the benefits when participating for 15 years under the Social Insurance Law 2024. This shows that Social Insurance Law No. 41/2025/QH15 has come into effect even before it took effect," the Ministry of Finance commented.

Regarding unemployment insurance, the Ministry of Finance informed that in the first quarter of 2025, 118,191 decisions on unemployment benefits were paid, down 23.3% compared to the same period in 2024, and 3,081 decisions on vocational training support were paid, down 33.7% compared to the same period in 2024.
