
People's Artist Quang Tho - resounding voice from the mining land
Born in 1948 in Quang Ninh, People's Artist Quang Tho is one of the leading tenors in Vietnamese music. He is famous for his warm, powerful voice, imbued with classical opera.
Quang Tho was the first Vietnamese artist to win first prize at the International Music Festival in Pyongyang (North Korea) in 1975. He was awarded the title of People's Artist for his great contributions to chamber music and opera. Songs such as "Tieng dan bau" (The monochord), "Ha Noi niem tin va hy hop" (Hanoi belief and hope) have become immortal through his voice.
Although retired, People's Artist Quang Tho still diligently teaches his experience to the younger generation at the Vietnam National Academy of Music. Occasionally, big programs invite him to sing.
