This is a special program organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak province in coordination with the Department of Culture and Sports of Hanoi.
Speaking at a press conference on the afternoon of April 10 in Hanoi, Mr. Tran Hong Tien, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak province, said that the opera “Khat vong Dam San” and the music and folk art program “Tieng cau Cao Nguyen” are the sentiments and passion of the Dak Lak cultural sector in general and artists in particular for the people and tourists in the capital Hanoi, contributing to stimulating tourism. The locality brought about 100 professional and non-professional artists and actors to Hanoi to perform.
Opera “Aspiration of Dam San” (Author: Musician Nguyen Cuong; Screenwriter, General Director: Hong Hoa; General Choreographer: People's Artist Y San Alio). Notably, the music has two talented musicians, musician Nguyen Cuong and musician Minh Dao. In addition to the performances of the main actors, Meritorious Artist Y Joel Knul, Y Ko Nie, H'Lueng Nie, Y Moan Hmok, Hoang Duyen, the opera has the participation of many artists from the Central Highlands.
Based on the epic Dam San - one of the typical works of the Ede people in the Central Highlands, screenwriter Hong Hoa wrote the script "Khat Vong Dam San" with many new details. The opera "Khat Vong Dam San" has been approved by the People's Committee of Dak Lak province with the desire to build a great work in Vietnamese music, praising the aspirations and romantic but also heroic beauty of the Ede people in the Central Highlands. The work contributes to restoring and preserving the culture of the Ede people through music and visual stage, and is expected to become a unique and special cultural tourism product. The opera will be performed at the Hanoi Drama Theater on the evening of April 13.
On the evening of April 12, the folk music and art program “The Call of the Highlands” will be held at the Ba Kieu Temple Flower Garden, the walking space around Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi. In the program, artists will perform acts imbued with the cultural identity of the Central Highlands ethnic groups, including gongs.
Since 2005, the Central Highlands Gong Culture Space has been recognized by UNESCO as an oral masterpiece and an intangible cultural heritage of humanity and was included in the list of "Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity" in 2008. From the extremely rich and unique folk melodies of the Central Highlands ethnic groups combined with bamboo and rattan musical instruments, the work will recreate the vivid sounds of the great mountains and forests, the connection and harmony between humans, heaven, earth and gods...
