Container shipping has become the main mode of transport promoting Vietnam-China trade in goods with impressive figures in the first 6 months of 2024, transporting 4,928 containers, an increase of 1,565% over the same period last year.

According to statistics from the Nanning Railway Bureau, Guangxi, China, in the first 6 months of 2024, China-Vietnam freight trains departing from Guangxi transported 4,928 cargo containers, an increase of 1,565% over the same period last year, accounting for 74% of the country's cargo containers exported to Vietnam, reported Chinese media.
In the first 6 months of this year, the flights freight train China-Vietnam routes departing from Guangxi mainly transport construction materials, chemicals, and electronic products, of which the volume of raw paper, engines, and dry food increased by 80%, 270%, and 319% respectively over the same period last year.
In order to improve the efficiency of China-Vietnam intermodal freight trains, the Nanning Railway Bureau always shares relevant information with Vietnam's railway units to promptly notify relevant agencies, and shippers quickly complete import procedures, thereby shortening time and improving customs clearance efficiency, ensuring a 14-hour train run from Nanning Station, China to Yen Vien Station, Vietnam, meeting the needs of sending, clearing and delivering goods within the day.
Since the beginning of 2024, Nanning Railway Bureau has expanded the freight collection and transportation route, promoting its role as a hub. freight of Nanning International Railway Port, and at the same time, build a suitable logistics plan for each enterprise to attract goods gathered at the port for export to Vietnam, as well as gradually shift from simple transportation services to full-package cross-border transportation services or increase the free container delivery time to 48 hours to reduce transportation costs for enterprises.
Currently, more than 20 cities inside and outside the Guangxi Autonomous Region have become freight collection points for intermodal freight trains for export to ASEAN countries such as Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand.
Nanning International Railway Port has initially become a center for gathering, distributing and transporting Chinese goods exported to Vietnam by rail. Container freight trains have become the main mode of transport in promoting trade exchange of goods between the two countries.
