The Pho Hien Folk Culture Festival - a major cultural event of Hung Yen city - will be held on the evening of February 17. These days, preparations are being urgently implemented, promising to bring visitors a festival space imbued with identity, vividly recreating the cultural beauty of ancient Pho Hien and Hung Yen city today.
These days, relic sites in Hung Yen city welcome a large number of tourists to visit and worship.
Right after the Lunar New Year holiday, Hung Yen city held a meeting to assess the progress of preparations for the festival. Up to now, important preparations such as logistics, list of delegates, festival program script, opening script and professional art performances have been basically completed. Mass art clubs have actively practiced to contribute to creating a vibrant and unique atmosphere at the festival.
Urban beautification work has also been stepped up. 100% of the relics in the Pho Hien Special National Relic Complex have completed cleaning and landscaping, ready to welcome visitors. The flag system and decorative lights have been replaced, creating a space filled with the colors of spring. Comrade Nguyen Thi Hoa, Head of the Management Board of the Pho Hien Special National Relic Complex, said: “We have focused on beautifying the relics, cleaning the grounds, and arranging staff to serve the festival, ensuring visitors have the best experience when coming to Pho Hien.”
In addition, ensuring security, order, traffic safety, and environmental sanitation are given top priority. The authorities closely coordinate, deploy traffic diversion plans, and arrange reasonable parking spots to avoid congestion during the festival.
This year's festival will take place over 3 days, from February 17 to 19, 2025, or January 20 to 22, the year of the Snake, with the highlight being the opening night on the evening of February 17 at Nguyen Van Linh Square. This will be a special art program, with the participation of more than 200 professional singers and actors.
The festival space is concentrated at the Pho Hien National Special Relic Site and the Crescent Lake area, where many attractive activities will take place such as: Ceremony: Reenacting traditional sacrificial rituals at historical relics, giving visitors an experience of the sacred religious space. Festival: Many folk cultural activities are organized, such as walking on the bridge, tug of war, passing lemons, sack jumping, blindfolded pot smashing, water puppetry and singing on boats at Crescent Lake. These games help vividly recreate the "on the wharf, under the boat" scene of ancient Pho Hien. Water procession: One of the new features of this year's festival is the traditional water procession from the Red River to the relics, to recreate the custom of praying for a bountiful harvest and a prosperous life.
In addition, visitors also have the opportunity to enjoy the unique culinary specialties of Hung Yen and explore the ancient architectural beauty at relics such as Mau Temple, Tran Temple, Chuong Pagoda, Xich Dang Temple of Literature...
Comrade Nguyen Hong Minh, Director of the Hung Yen City Culture and Broadcasting Center, shared: “This year’s festival has many new features, especially the elaborate investment in the opening art program and the restoration of traditional rituals. We hope to bring visitors a truly impressive festival space.”
With careful preparation, Pho Hien Folk Culture Festival promises to become an attractive destination in the early days of spring, contributing to promoting the image of Hung Yen - a land rich in cultural and historical traditions.
