According to statistics, in 2021, Hanoi exploited 1,704 tons of aquatic products, in 2022 1,700 tons, in 2023 1,685 tons, in 2024 1,680 tons... In order to sustainably develop aquatic resources in natural rivers and lakes, in 2023, the Hanoi People's Committee issued Directive No. 03 on strengthening the development of aquaculture, protection and development of aquatic resources in the area to encourage the joint efforts of professional agencies and the community.
In 2024, the Hanoi Department of Animal Husbandry - Fisheries and Veterinary Medicine coordinated with the City Buddhist Sangha and the People's Committees of communes and wards to release about 53,000 fish fry of various types, from rare (such as 12,000 spotted catfish fry, 13,000 catfish fry, 13,000 river catfish fry) to common (such as 15,000 grass carp fry...) into the Red River, Tich River, Bui River, Day River, Duong River and Yen Stream to regenerate aquatic resources. At the same time, the Department also organized propaganda campaigns to the community to raise people's awareness in environmental protection, exploiting aquatic resources, and avoiding overfishing.
