Ronaldo supports Amorim, compares Man Utd to "sick fish tank"

(Dan Tri) - Cristiano Ronaldo supports coach Ruben Amorim even though the Portuguese strategist has not been able to help Man Utd escape the crisis. CR7 also compared his old team to a "sick fish tank".

Cristiano Ronaldo has backed Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim in his bid to reverse the club's decline at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai on the evening of December 27, while also hinting at the possibility of a future ownership stake at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo insisted Amorim was not responsible for the Red Devils' current poor run, which has seen them lose four of their seven league games. He also made a series of comments about the possibility of becoming club owner.

"I said this a year and a half ago and I will continue to say it, the problem is not the coaches. It's like in a fish tank, you take a sick fish out to cure it. Then you put it back in the tank, it will be sick again. The problem with Man Utd is the same. The problem is not just the coach, there are many other aspects."

Ronaldo also stressed that if he were the club owner, he would clarify things and fix what is not good at the team. Although he is not interested in coaching, ownership is attractive to him, depending on "the right time, the right opportunity".

Asked if holding shares in Man Utd was attractive, Ronaldo replied: "I'm still very young, I have many plans and dreams ahead. However, mark my words, I will be the owner of a big club. For sure."

The away defeat to Wolves left Man Utd in 14th place in the Premier League under Amorim. Ronaldo, who has scored 145 goals in 346 appearances at Old Trafford, said Amorim can lead the club through the current "storm".

"Amorim did a great job in Portugal with Sporting, my old club, but the Premier League is a much tougher environment. It's the most competitive league in the world. I know it's going to be difficult and Man Utd will continue to be in the storm. However, the storm will end and the sun will come back. Everything will be fine, everything will be fine for Amorim and I hope the best for Man Utd because this is the club that I still love," Ronaldo said.

With the new year approaching, Man Utd are now closer to the relegation zone than Champions League qualification, and Amorim admits his job is "under threat" if things don't turn around.

"A Manchester United manager can never be comfortable, no matter what the circumstances. I know my job. I know that if we don't win, no matter how much money the team has spent, I know that every manager is in danger. I like that because that's our job. I understand the question and you can say that I'm here for a month and have four training sessions, but we don't win. That's the reality and I'm quite comfortable with that," Amorim said in a recent interview.

Man Utd will return to play against Newcastle United in the early morning of next Tuesday (December 31), in round 19 of the Premier League.
