Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Trong Hoang - Editor-in-Chief of the book, former Secretary of the Youth Union of students in Da Lat city in the 1960s emphasized: During the resistance war against the US to save the country, millions of Vietnamese youths went to fight heroically on many different fronts. In Da Lat, young people, students and pupils also took to the streets to fight, creating strong waves of political pressure on the authorities and the climax was the uprising that took control of the city for 3 consecutive days.

Performing some songs from the "Sing for my people" movement revived the heroic atmosphere at the launch.

They were all in their late teens and early twenties, young men and women who put aside their personal lives, were willing to accept tear gas, batons, and magic, regardless of bloodshed in the schoolyard, endured beatings and imprisonment, and were willing to sacrifice for the independence and unification of the country.

During that struggle, dozens of young people and students were exiled far away from home, nearly 30 students fell in the forests, rice fields and right in the heart of the city.

Interact with students about the book's content

The book Da Lat - The Inner City in Turmoil is a collection of 55 emotional articles by 25 authors, stories told by insiders that vividly and authentically record the heroic revolutionary activities of Da Lat's youth during the tumultuous time.

Those are memories of the inner-city fighting of unarmed white-shirted school soldiers directly facing the enemy who were formally trained and equipped with modern weapons.

The 300 pages of the book depict the heroic struggle of Dalat students more than 50 years ago, aiming to pass on to the next generation of Dalat youth a beautiful tradition of the previous generation of Dalat youth.

Former students of Dalat University in the old struggle movement, now have gray hair.

The articles in the book are arranged chronologically and are valuable documents to better understand the revolutionary struggle tradition of the people and youth of Da Lat. Proud of the tradition of their ancestors, today's young generation continues on the path of building a rich and powerful homeland.
