Mong Cai City People's Committee said that today in Dongxing City (Guangxi), a working delegation of the Northern Power Corporation had a working session with Guangxi Power Grid Company to negotiate electricity purchase.
Guangxi Power Grid Company agrees with the plan to sell electricity via the 110kV Tham Cau - Mong Cai line proposed by Vietnam; immediately prepare infrastructure and operating techniques to ensure electricity supply to the 110kV Mong Cai station (Mong Cai city) and 110kV Quang Ha (Hai Ha district).

It is expected that on May 23, the two sides will sign a power purchase agreement and at 0:00 on May 24, the power will be transferred from Shenzhou (China) to Vietnam. Currently, the output and price of electricity have not been announced.
To prepare for this, from 3am to 6am on May 22, Mong Cai City Electricity cut off the power to connect the 110kV Mong Cai - Dong Hung line.
According to calculations by the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), the North is at risk of lacking 1,600-4,900 MW of electricity in May and June. On May 18, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh urged the Ministry of Industry and Trade and EVN to mobilize all sources to have enough electricity for daily life, production, business and consumption.
