Specifically, from about 11pm on April 20 to 2am on April 21, in Co To district, there was heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms with winds of level 5-6, sometimes gusting to level 7-8. The thunderstorms and tornadoes occurred quickly and unexpectedly, causing a lot of damage to people's houses and property.
Of these, 10 vehicles (ships, rafts, jellyfish-collecting rafts) sank, 10 people on board were rescued safely to shore, no fishermen were in distress and have not been rescued. Of these, 8 were fishermen from Co To district and 2 were fishermen from Thanh Hoa province fishing in the southern waters of Co To island.
A representative of the Co To district leadership said that immediately after receiving the information, the district quickly mobilized over 50 officers and soldiers, dispatched 1 rescue ship, 2 boats and 2 cars along with the people to quickly participate in the search and rescue work, bringing the fishermen safely to shore. The fishermen's health condition is stable, and they have returned home after being brought ashore in the early morning of April 21.

The thunderstorm lasted for a short time but the strong wind blew off the roofs of many houses; damaged many large trees on the central streets. Many fishing boats were swept away. Many roadside trees and billboards were knocked down and damaged, some houses with shops with corrugated iron roofs had their roofs blown off.
The total monetary damage to property has not yet been estimated. Communes and towns in Co To district are urgently searching for assets, ships, boats, rafts, and rafts that have sunk or drifted; coordinating with relevant agencies and units, mobilizing local forces and people to urgently clean up the streets, prop up fallen trees, remove broken and torn billboards, signs, decorative lights, etc.; mobilizing all forces to support the repair of houses damaged by storms and tornadoes.
