In Van Trach commune, Ms. Hoang Thi Lan discovered a bomb while digging the ground. The Quang Binh provincial military command invited MAG to handle the bomb scene on November 27. The bomb was identified as an M117 weighing more than 300kg.
MAG experts inspected the bomb, brought it to a safe state for removal and transported it to the centralized destruction area.

On the same day, November 27, people fishing near a stream near a residential area in Trong Hoa commune discovered an exposed bomb and reported it to the commune People's Committee. The bomb was about 100m from a resident's house and about 150m from National Highway 12A.
The bomb was identified by MAG experts as an M117. After the bomb was safely disposed of by experts, the team worked together to carry the bomb, which weighed more than 300kg, along 300m of winding, steep hills to the warehouse on November 28.
One week to safely handle 3 bombs |
On November 30, MAG received information that a bomb had been discovered near the Bai Dinh village cultural house. Experts determined that it was an MK81 bomb weighing about 118kg, with a lethal radius of about 1km.
Since the bomb was located in a location that could only be reached by water, the MAG disposal team used a 300ml plastic barrel to make a raft, then secured the bomb to the raft and successfully moved it across the river. The bomb has now been moved to the detonation area.
All three of these dangerous bombs have now been brought to the T92 warehouse of the Quang Binh Provincial Military Command, awaiting centralized destruction this December.
Since the beginning of 2023, MAG has handled 211 missions in Quang Binh, with 285 explosives, including 9 large bombs weighing over 100kg.
