Legendary Filipino player Efren Reyes will compete in an exhibition match at the Hanoi Open Pool Championship 2023 on October 14.

The Hanoi Open Pool Championship 2023 will take place from October 10 to October 15 at the My Dinh Indoor Athletics Stadium. This is the first Asian tournament in the prestigious World 9-Ball Tour system, along with the US Open, UK Open, European Open and Spanish Open.
The tournament will feature 128 Vietnamese players and 128 international players. Vietnamese billiard fans will be able to watch live many high-level players such as world number one Francisco Sanchez-Ruiz, number two Shane Van Boening, number five Fedor Gorst... In particular, "magician" Efren Reyes will be in Hanoi to compete in an exhibition match on the penultimate day of the tournament.
Reyes was born in 1954 and is considered the world's most legendary player, having won most of the major titles such as the US Open, Challenge of Champions, World Pool League Championship... in nearly 40 years of competition. He was also honored as the Best Player of 1995, World Champion of 1999 and has his name on the American Billiards Walk of Fame.
The Filipino player received great admiration from Vietnamese fans when he competed at the 31st SEA Games in 2022.

The Hanoi Open Pool Championship 2023 is organized by Matchroom in collaboration with Vietcontent, with a total prize of 200,000 USD. Matchroom General Director Emily Frazer shared the reason for choosing Hanoi to organize the tournament: "Hanoi is the perfect place to organize this tournament. There are many passionate billiard fans here. The level of the home players is also quite high, not inferior to the world."
