Ms. Nguyen Thi Chuc, Head of the Women's Association of Hoanh Loc village, Cam Van commune (Cam Giang) and her sisters in the association regularly help build a house for Ms. Nguyen Thi Luyen's family.

Proactive

Since the start of the construction of a house for Ms. Nguyen Thi Luyen - a mentally unstable patient - every day, Ms. Nguyen Thi Chuc, Head of the Women's Association of Hoanh Loc village, Cam Van commune (Cam Giang) has been running back and forth to help Ms. Luyen's family. Ms. Chuc shared that since the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for policy families, poor and near-poor households was launched, the women proposed to include Ms. Luyen in the list of eligible households to build a house. Being a poor household and mentally unstable, Ms. Luyen sometimes agreed to build a house and sometimes did not, so the women had to go back and forth to persuade her many times.

To support Ms. Luyen, Ms. Chuc and the women in the Women's Association of Hoanh Loc village contributed many days of work to transport furniture and clear trees to make room for the house. When the construction workers built the house, the women around Ms. Luyen's house helped boil water for the workers, sweep, and collect furniture to make it neat and clean. People living nearby also supported water and electricity used during the construction process. Ms. Chuc herself also directly cleaned up and supported with specific tasks.

"Compared to other cases, this case is much more difficult because Ms. Luyen herself cannot do anything, everything is supported by relatives and women in the family. All the women in the village are enthusiastic, whenever they have free time they come to help," said Ms. Chuc.

Women's Unions at all levels in the province contributed thousands of working days to support families in cleaning and creating land to build houses.

Not only contributing thousands of working days to support house construction, Hai Duong women also proactively contributed funds to help those in difficult circumstances. A typical example is the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi La in Thung Do village, Doan Thuong commune (Gia Loc). After learning that Ms. Bui Thi Ly in Thang village (same commune) was a poor household receiving support to rebuild her house, Ms. La talked to her children and grandchildren and the family agreed to support Ms. Ly with 10 million VND. "My family often does charity work, so when we shared about Ms. Ly's situation, my children and grandchildren all supported her. I gave this money to Ms. Ly so that she could have a little more money to build a spacious and clean house," Ms. La said.

Implementing Plan No. 5188/KH-UBND dated December 31, 2024 of the People's Committee of Hai Duong province on housing support for people with revolutionary contributions, martyrs' relatives and eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households, the Women's Union at all levels in the province responded by registering to strive to build 13 houses, repair 4 houses and register to support nearly 19,000 working days.

Ms. Bui Thi Ly (second from left) in Doan Thuong commune (Gia Loc) was moved by the material and spiritual attention of authorities at all levels, mass organizations and people in the commune.

To date, women in the province have supported thousands of working days to help families. A representative of the Gia Loc District Women's Union shared that this is a meaningful and practical work, demonstrating the concern of authorities at all levels as well as women for families with preferential policies and difficult circumstances.

Exciting

The emotion and excitement are the common feelings of the families who have been helped and supported to build houses. Some families with preferential policies and most poor and near-poor households are facing difficulties in life, so this help is very meaningful to them.

Mrs. Pham Thi Thiem in Van Thai village, Cam Van commune (Cam Giang) is happy because after many years of living in a dilapidated level 4 house, which is at risk of collapsing at any time, she is about to have a new house to live in. The house is 55 m2 wide, built on a high ground, with a living room, bedroom, kitchen and adjacent toilet, which will be convenient for daily life.

"During storm number 3, I did not dare to stay in my house for fear of it collapsing. I have wanted to rebuild my house for a long time but did not have the funds. This time, I not only received financial support from the State but also the women in the village and neighborhood supported me with many days of work to help clean up. I am truly touched by that concern," said Ms. Thiem.

Sharing the same sentiment as Ms. Thiem, Ms. Bui Thi Ly in Thang village, Doan Thuong commune (Gia Loc) is also a single parent with many illnesses. When receiving both material and spiritual help, she was very happy. "Right after the groundbreaking ceremony, I received 20 million VND in support, of which 10 million VND was from the People's Committee of Doan Thuong commune and mass organizations, and 10 million VND from Ms. Nguyen Thi La's family. This amount of money is very precious to me, I will never forget this help," Ms. Ly said.
