This afternoon (August 21), a conference was held to announce the Politburo’s decision on personnel work. Accordingly, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang was transferred and assigned to hold the position of Head of the Central Economic Commission.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang was born in 1967, from Tay Ninh. Political theory qualification: Bachelor; Professional qualification: Master of public administration, mechanical engineer.

He is a member of the Party Central Committee: 11th (alternate), 12th, 13th; National Assembly Delegate: 14th, 15th.

- From June 1994 - September 2010: Specialist at the Department of Planning and Investment, Tay Ninh Industrial Park Infrastructure Development Company; Head of Department of Planning and Investment; Deputy Head of Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone Management Board; Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment; Chairman of the People's Committee and then Secretary of Trang Bang District Party Committee, Tay Ninh Province.

- From October 2010 - February 2019: Worked in Tay Ninh province; at the 11th National Congress of the Party in January 2011, was elected as an alternate member of the Party Central Committee; held the following positions: Provincial Party Committee member, Secretary of Trang Bang District Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Provincial Party Committee Secretary; Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; at the 12th National Congress of the Party in January 2016, was elected as a member of the Party Central Committee.

- From February 2019 - April 2021: Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee. At the 13th National Congress of the Party in January 2021, he was elected as a member of the Party Central Committee.

- From April 2021 to June 2021: Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee; Deputy of the 15th National Assembly and Head of the Hai Phong City National Assembly Delegation, Head of the Party Cell.

- From January 2023 to present: At the 2nd extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly, the National Assembly approved his appointment to the position of Deputy Prime Minister.
