(Fatherland) - The opening film for the 2024 Japanese Film Festival is the blockbuster "Godzilla -1.0" premiering on the big screen in Vietnam for the first time. This is an iconic Japanese science fiction film about the monster Godzilla.
On the evening of December 13, at the National Cinema Center (87 Lang Ha, Hanoi), the opening ceremony of the 2024 Japanese Film Festival in Vietnam took place.
With a collection of 11 blockbuster films, this year's Film Festival journey lasted for two months, visiting 3 cities in Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh City (November 1 - November 16), Da Nang (November 22 - November 24), Hai Phong (December 6 - December 8) and the capital Hanoi (December 13 - December 28) as the final stop.
Speaking in Vietnamese at the opening ceremony, Deputy Ambassador of Japan to Vietnam - Mr. Ishikawa Isamu expressed his joy at the warm reception of the capital's audience for cinema in particular and Japanese culture in general.

"Although movies do not completely reflect reality, they will tell us a lot about the country that produced the movie. Enjoying Japanese movies is also a way to approach the cultural life and perspectives of Japanese people. Mr. Ishikawa Isamu believes that the annual Japan Film Festival in Vietnam is a great way to convey the image of Japan to Vietnamese audiences. "Although I have only been in Vietnam for 3 months, I really want to watch many Vietnamese films to understand more about Vietnam. I am also currently learning Vietnamese and it would be great if one day I could understand the Vietnamese dialogues," the Deputy Ambassador added.
The Japan Film Festival is a cultural project initiated by the Japan Foundation, aiming to promote Japanese cinema to the world. In Vietnam, the project was launched in 2009 and has become increasingly known and supported by Vietnamese audiences, especially young people who are studying Japanese or have a special interest and love for the country, culture and people of Japan.

We hope and believe that cultural and artistic events such as the Japanese Film Festival in Vietnam will continue to create a close bond between the two cultures of Vietnam and Japan." - Ms. Ly Phuong Dung affirmed.
