The film not only recreates a heroic period of history but also depicts the dark corners and brutality of war through hauntingly realistic footage.

Right from the first frames, "Tunnels: Sun in the Dark" has drawn viewers into a gruesome scene when depicting the tragedy and death of soldiers and the suffocating underground space - which used to be the survival battlefield of our army and people. Director Bui Thac Chuyen did not choose a flashy narrative but brought the audience into "tight" battles, where soldiers had to squeeze through narrow tunnels, facing bombs and imminent death. The rare light from the gaps became a symbol of fragile hope in the darkness of war.

When watching the film, the audience not only feels the fierceness of the war on the ground but also understands the hardships of the Cu Chi soldiers when they had to survive underground in suffocating and deprived conditions. The images of eyes restless in the darkness, the heavy breathing when the enemy searched above or the sound of bombs exploding shaking the entire tunnel system all make the audience shudder.

The film not only moved the audience because of its content but also because of the actors' dedication to art. Quang Tuan - who plays Tu Dap, an image inspired by the real-life character of the People's Armed Forces Hero To Van Duc, lost 14kg to match the emaciated figure of a soldier during wartime. He also met historical witnesses to gain a deeper understanding of the military knowledge and spirit of his predecessors. Quang Tuan's dedication is not only in his appearance but also through his eyes, gestures and even his silent but haunting moments.

Actor Thai Hoa also left his mark with deep inner scenes in the role of Bay Theo. One of his most impressive scenes was when the character received news of his comrade's sacrifice. Besides the valuable dialogue, Bay Theo's heavy eyes also fully conveyed the pain of a soldier in an unjust war. He himself admitted that there were scenes that seemed simple but became the biggest challenge in his acting career.

"I cried underground when I thought of my ancestors who had fallen. The war was so terrible, the youth of that time had to sacrifice so much. I just hope that on the 50th anniversary, the audience will come to the theater to understand more about the heroic resistance of the nation." - Meritorious Artist Cao Minh, as a character in the story "Tunnel: Sun in the Dark" also could not help but be moved when mentioning the film.

Director Bui Thac Chuyen has been nurturing this film for 11 years, since making a 3D short film about Cu Chi tunnels in 2014. For him, this is not only a cinematic work but also a tribute to the people who sacrificed for peace today.

"Tunnel: Sun in the Dark" is not an easy movie to watch according to the review of its creator. But if you embark on that journey, you will not only see war through guns and bullets but also feel the losses and pains that the previous generation has experienced. The movie will be released on April 4, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
