DNVN - Applying advanced technology trends and data analysis tools in supply chain management will not only help optimize retail operations, but also contribute to creating a green, sustainable and environmentally friendly retail market.

At the forum "Policies and laws for domestic trade development in 2024" on December 4 in Hanoi, Mr. Phan Van Chinh - Director of the Domestic Market Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that the retail system plays an important role not only in connecting production and consumption but also as a driving force for economic growth, job creation, and improving the quality of life of people.

The Party and State always identify that developing the retail system is a key task in the process of industrialization and modernization of the country, contributing significantly to the goal of sustainable development.

The strategy "Domestic trade development to 2030, vision to 2045" not only guides the Vietnamese retail industry to develop rapidly but also requires a close connection between growth rate and sustainability in accordance with the Party's major policies and guidelines stated in the documents of the 13th National Party Congress.

Mr. Phan Van Chinh - Director of Domestic Market Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade).

At the forum, delegates shared the view that in the context of Vietnam's deep integration with the world economy, Vietnam's retail system has been facing many great opportunities and challenges. Participation in new-generation Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) not only expands the market but also promotes healthy competition, creates motivation for innovation, and improves quality and services in the retail sector.

The solution emphasized is sustainable development in trade, especially the application of modern technology, digital transformation and development of green consumption models.

According to delegates, the application of advanced technology trends, such as artificial intelligence, big data and data analysis tools in supply chain management will not only help optimize retail operations, but also contribute to creating a green, sustainable and environmentally friendly retail market.

From the business perspective, Ms. Doan Thi Huong Thanh - Legal Director, Wincommerce suggested that the Government and agencies, ministries and branches complete and issue policies related to competition between FDI enterprises and Vietnamese enterprises. Thereby ensuring healthy competition between economic sectors, supporting the development of the domestic retail system.

According to Ms. Thanh, it is necessary to develop standards, regulations, and conditions related to participation in the retail market and product quality standards to protect the interests of consumers and domestic businesses.

Wincommerce representative also proposed to support the acceleration of the recognition of intellectual property rights for domestic products, especially Vietnamese specialties, and provide guidance on the implementation of assessment and certification of famous trademarks for retailers to enhance the recognition of domestic products and retailers, and avoid counterfeiting and falsification of goods.

The Director of the Domestic Market Department emphasized that the rapid and sustainable development of the retail system can only be achieved with the joint efforts of all parties: management agencies, domestic and foreign enterprises, researchers and the consumer community.

To promote the modern retail system, it is necessary to invest heavily in digital technology, develop a multi-channel retail model to optimize supply chain management and enhance consumer experience. Cooperation between retail businesses will facilitate the sharing of technology and experience, while building a modern and synchronous retail ecosystem.

In addition, promoting sustainable consumption and environmental protection is also a key factor. A transparent and fair business environment will attract domestic and foreign investors, creating common benefits for the whole society.
