Implementing the plan to develop concentrated fruit trees in Tho Xuan district, up to now, the whole district has planned 1,643.44 hectares of fruit trees. Of which, the harvested area is 1,199.5 hectares; the concentrated fruit tree area is 559.71 hectares; the concentrated area of 3 hectares or more is 407 hectares. The area of some of the district's main fruit trees is mainly pineapple, orange, grapefruit, banana, guava, dragon fruit, mango... concentrated in Tho Xuong, Xuan Bai, Xuan Hong, Xuan Truong communes, Lam Son town... Many households in the district have invested in planting orange and grapefruit trees according to VietGAP standards, with an area of nearly 30 hectares. Fruit tree products are mainly consumed in and in provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nghe An... through the supermarket system and wholesale markets.
In order to increase the value of fruit trees, Tho Xuan district has built and protected the geographical indication "Luan Van" for Luan Van grapefruit products; collective trademarks for Xuan Thanh oranges and Bac Luong grapefruit products. In addition, in the district, there are 3 fruit tree products recognized as OCOP products at the provincial level, such as: Luan Van Hai Dang grapefruit, Thanh Nguyen orange, Phu Bac grapefruit.
Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tho Xuan district, Le Thi Dung, said: In order to create conditions for people to develop fruit tree areas according to VietGAP standards, the district actively promotes land accumulation to link large-scale, high-tech production. At the same time, calling on and attracting businesses to invest in building preservation and processing facilities to form closed value chains in fruit tree production, linking production with harvesting, preservation, processing and market to increase the value and quality of fruit trees, especially in concentrated fruit tree production areas of the district. In addition, organizing training and guidance on the process of planting and caring for fruit trees according to VietGAP standards. Along with that, creating conditions for cooperatives, farms, and businesses to build product brands; build labels and geographical indications of fruit trees; register for intellectual property protection; enhance the competitiveness of key products and OCOP products.
According to statistics from the agricultural sector, there are currently 481 hectares of fruit trees in the province that have been certified by VietGAP. Up to now, in localities in the province, a number of concentrated production areas, following the organic direction, meeting VietGAP standards, have been formed, such as the 5-hectare fruit growing area in Vinh Hung commune (Vinh Loc); the 15-hectare orange and grapefruit growing area, 27-hectare seedless lychee, 11-hectare red-fleshed dragon fruit, 34.5-hectare Israeli avocado, 10-hectare Keo mango of Ho Guom - Song Am High-Tech Agriculture Company Limited (Ngoc Lac); the concentrated fruit growing area in Yen Ninh, Yen Truong, Yen Phu communes (Yen Dinh) with an area of 32.4 hectares...
Chung Thuy Farm in Van Du Town (Thach Thanh) grows 83 hectares of citrus trees such as Vinh oranges, Duong Canh oranges, green-skinned grapefruits, avocados... and operates an automatic drip irrigation system using Israeli technology. This is the first farm in the province to be certified to meet Global GAP standards and is cultivating organically. In addition, the organic grapefruit production chain of Nguyen Xuan Organic Farm has initially been formed in association with Grove Group Corporation to produce "Moc An organic grapefruit" in Yen Tho Commune (Yen Dinh) with an area of 16 hectares.
To expand the area of fruit trees according to VietGAP standards, the agricultural sector and localities in the province are actively promoting and training people on production according to VietGAP processes. At the same time, consulting and supporting localities to establish cooperatives and cooperative groups in communes and towns with fruit growing areas that meet the conditions to apply production according to VietGAP standards. Along with that, building and replicating models and chains of highly effective fruit tree production links. Focusing on innovating production organization towards developing cooperation, links and alliances between enterprises, cooperatives and people in production, processing and consumption of products to form raw material areas for growing each type of fruit tree.
