Currently, projects in the North Ben Tre and South Ben Tre areas such as: Tan Phu culvert, Ben Ro culvert, the dyke system along Tien river, Ham Luong river, Trung Nhuan culvert, Xeo Ran culvert, Kenh Lap reservoir, temporary dam works of Sa Ke culvert, Tang Du culvert, Kenh Lo culvert, Tan Huong culvert, the dyke system along Ham Luong river, the dyke along Co Chien river ... have been completed and put into use. This irrigation system has contributed to protecting hundreds of thousands of hectares of crop land and providing domestic water for people.
The province has combined with the exploitation and operation of flexible and effective irrigation works, contributing to the formation of freshwater storage pockets in the area. According to statistics, in the North Ben Tre area, about 500 million m3 and in the South Ben Tre area, about 800 million m3 have contributed significantly to creating sources for water supply plants to serve the people's daily life and production.
Kenh Lap freshwater reservoir (Ba Tri district) effectively stores fresh water to serve people's daily life and production needs.
Vam Dinh Binh sluice (Hoa Nghia commune, Cho Lach district) is about to be completed to prevent salinity and store fresh water for people growing fruit trees.
Lac Dia freshwater reservoir project (Ba Tri district) is urgently completed.
Thanks to the closed dike system, ornamental flower growers in Son Phu (Cho Lach) have fresh water for production during the drought and salinity season.
