South Korean news site Naver reported that Mohammad Khaibar Nuristani was the first case to test positive for doping at this year's Games.
The International Testing Agency (ITA) tested the boxer's sample and found the presence of 19-norandrosterone (19-NA) and clostebol.
These are substances that have the effect of increasing muscle in a short time. Clostebol is used similarly to testosterone. Meanwhile, 19-NA is an anabolic substance, increasing muscle in a short time but brings many side effects.
Scientific studies have shown that users of this substance are at risk of decreased thyroid function, sexual dysfunction, and reduced growth.
Mohammad Khaibar Nuristani was found guilty of doping.
It is known that ITA is an independent doping control unit at ASIAD 19. Mohammad Khaibar Nuristani competed on September 25 so he was tested on September 21. At that time, the test results were not yet available so Mohammad Khaibar Nuristani was still allowed to compete as usual.
However, he lost to Mongolian athlete - Byambatsogt Tuguldur in the 1/32 round of the men's 71kg category. After that, Mohammad Khaibar Nuristani returned home. The 37-year-old athlete was informed of the doping test results on September 28.
In theory, Mohammad Khaibar Nuristani has not been confirmed as "positive for banned substances", only when sample B also gives a positive result will this athlete be concluded to have banned substances in his body.
In fact, it is very rare for a professional athlete to test positive for doping in sample A but have the opposite result in sample B. The reason is that in the doping sampling process of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), 2 urine samples are taken at the same time.
