In an interview on March 14, US President Donald Trump said that Washington's negotiations with Moscow on a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine proposed by the US are going "well" so far. He hopes to have "good" news soon regarding the process of resolving this conflict.
"We're working things out with him (Russian President Vladimir Putin), and I think things are going very well. As you know, we have a ceasefire agreement with Ukraine. We're also trying to get that with Russia. I think so far, things are going well. We'll know more on Monday and hopefully things will go well," the White House owner said.
Speaking to reporters at Andrews Air Force Base on March 14 before heading to Florida, Mr. Trump also announced: "We just received good information from Russia. I think Russia will agree to our proposal."
However, he did not share further details about the good news from Moscow.
Earlier, during talks on March 11 in Saudi Arabia, the US delegation proposed a 30-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. Kiev agreed to the proposal in exchange for the US immediately restoring military aid and intelligence sharing.
On March 23, President Trump's Special Envoy, Mr. Steve Witkoff, traveled to Moscow to discuss the ceasefire proposal with President Putin.
After the meeting, Mr. Putin said that Russia supported the idea of a ceasefire, but the current proposal still needed to resolve a number of questions.
