Ambassador Bulbuloglu said that President Putin and President Aliyev will have an in-depth dialogue in Baku. "As of now, relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are at a very high level of allied interaction," Mr. Bulbuloglu emphasized.

"Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev paid an official visit to Russia in April and had extensive talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Many issues were discussed," Bulbuloglu continued.

Today (August 19), Mr. Putin will visit the Alley of Honor cemetery and lay a wreath on the grave of the late Azerbaijani leader Heydar Aliyev. He will then visit the Alley of Martyrs cemetery to pay tribute to those who died for Azerbaijan's independence.

The state visit will begin with an official meeting between Putin and Aliyev at the Zagulba residence on the Caspian Sea. The two heads of state will first hold private talks and then be joined by their respective delegations.

The talks are expected to produce a joint statement from the leaders and a number of international documents. After the talks, Mr Putin and Mr Aliyev will brief journalists on their results.

Mr Putin's most recent visit to Azerbaijan was in September 2018.
