Nearly 3,000 households in Soc Son District have been affected by floods, and people are living in isolation in the middle of an 'oasis'.

The impact of prolonged rain and floods, the rising water level of Cau River and Ca Lo River through Soc Son District (Hanoi) has isolated many residential areas along the river and on the banks. According to statistics from the People's Committee of Soc Son District, more than 3,000 households and more than 15,000 people have been affected by flooding due to the rising water level of Cau River and Ca Lo River.

Nearly 1,000 people in Mom, Dong and Doai hamlets (Viet Long commune) must be evacuated to ensure their safety.

Many places were flooded up to 3m, water almost reached the gate of the house.

According to Tien Phong newspaper, in Luong Phuc village, Tang Long village of Viet Long commune (Soc Son district, Hanoi), the water level has risen to over 2m in many places. Boats have become the main means of transportation for the people here.

Residents of Mom Hamlet have been forced to climb onto their roofs to receive supplies. Isolated households are living without electricity or clean water.

"This is the first time in 30 years that we have seen such a historic flood, with water rising so high. In the village, the elderly and children have all evacuated," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Loan, Luong Phuc village, Viet Long commune.

Livestock and livestock were moved to safety by people when the water level rose.

Floodwaters have disrupted the lives of many households in Luong Phuc village. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Sat, Luong Phuc village (Viet Long commune) said: "Since I was born and raised here, this is the first time I have witnessed such a big flood. Many households lost all their property because the water rose so quickly that they could not react in time."

Mr. Nguyen Van Hien, Luong Phuc village (Viet Long commune, Soc Son district, Hanoi) used a vehicle to transport materials to get clean water to support the people.

The People's Committee of Soc Son district said that the government still ensures food and foodstuff sources to support people when necessary. In addition, in recent days, many organizations and individuals in the district and city have also called to visit, encourage and directly bring necessities and medicine to help people.

Faced with the complicated developments of floods on Cau River and Ca Lo River, the People's Committee of Soc Son District has requested the authorities of 13 communes to focus on reviewing and urgently evacuating people to safe shelters. In case of necessity, forced relocation may be carried out. The water level of the two rivers has also exceeded the historical flood peak, posing a risk of insecurity to communes affected by river floods.

Many residential areas in Soc Son district are still submerged in water.
