The missing person is Liu Ngoc Hang, 22 years old, a 4th year student of the 47th course majoring in accounting at Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, residing at the dormitory at 135 Tran Hung Dao (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City).
According to Tuoi Tre Online , this female student returned to Vietnam on a flight from Guangzhou (China), transited in Hong Kong and then arrived at Tan Son Nhat airport at 10:35 this morning, February 9.
"Hang was picked up at Tan Son Nhat airport by her mother and some relatives. Hang returned safely to her family and is in a stable mental state, so she doesn't want to contact anyone right now," the source said.
According to a source from Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, on the morning of February 4 (the 7th day of Tet), student Liu Ngoc Hang's parents came to the dormitory at 135 Tran Hung Dao to report that they had not been able to contact Hang since January 27 (the 28th day of the 12th lunar month).
The student manager retrieved data from the management system and informed the family that student Hang had left the dormitory before 5:00 p.m. on December 22, 2024, and the management diary noted that the female student was traveling for 2 weeks, then would return home for Tet and would not visit the dormitory (her roommate reported).
Liu Ngoc Hang is a final year student and is currently doing an internship. Since January 26, her family has not been able to contact her.
The dormitory manager also supported the Cau Ong Lanh Ward Police (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) to report Hang's disappearance.
After 4:30 p.m. on February 5 (January 8), the dormitory manager worked with the Cau Ong Lanh Ward Police to confirm the above information.
At around 12:00 on February 6 (January 9), the ward police informed the dormitory that there was no need to enter Hang's room to collect information for the investigation because they had determined that the female student had left the country for China on December 22, 2024. They had transferred the case to the security department for further investigation.
Local authorities confirmed that the female student was on her way home.
As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , on February 3, Mr. Liu Xuong Menh (residing in Group 2, Hamlet 3) went to the Song Nhan Commune Police, Cam My District, Dong Nai, to report that his daughter had been missing for many days.
This afternoon, February 9, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Tran Anh Kiet - Chairman of the People's Committee of Song Nhan Commune - confirmed that the family had picked up Liu Ngoc Hang at Tan Son Nhat Airport, who was on her way back to her hometown. When she returns, the commune police will work with her, gather more specific information and provide further information.
