Vi Thi Thao was the first person from a poor border village in Nghe An to pass the General Practitioner exam at Hanoi Medical University, Thanh Hoa branch.

Notably, after Tien Phong newspaper published an article about Vi Thi Thao's situation, Mr. and Mrs. Thanh Tam's family (a couple who regularly do charity work in Hanoi) went to the female student's house to work with the commune authorities, grasp the actual situation and listen to the family's wishes.

Here, witnessed by local authorities, Mr. and Mrs. Thanh Tam in Hanoi promised to support Vi Thi Thao's living expenses for 6 years of studying at Hanoi Medical University, Thanh Hoa branch, with a support level of 3-4 million VND/month.

According to Mr. Cuong, in the 2024 high school graduation exam, in addition to Vi Thi Thao, Tri Le commune also had 2 cases of passing the entrance exam to medical universities. However, Vi Thi Thao was the candidate with the highest admission score and the most difficult circumstances. The Thai female student was also the only candidate from Que Phong district to receive a certificate of merit from the Provincial People's Committee at the Ceremony to honor students with high scores in the 2024 high school graduation exam.

Tri Le is one of the 60 poor communes in the country. The whole commune has 2,200 households with more than 11,000 people, of which 1,332 are poor households, with many difficult conditions. Vi Thi Thao's family is poor but has a tradition of studiousness. All three Thao sisters are well-behaved and good at studying. Vi Thi Thao's admission to Hanoi Medical University (Thanh Hoa Branch) is not only the pride of the family but also the joy of the local people.

"I hope that, from his studious example, it will contribute to encouraging students in the commune to strive to develop and build their hometown and village in the future," Mr. Lu Van Cuong - Chairman of Tri Le Commune People's Committee affirmed.

Sharing with Tien Phong Newspaper, Vi Thi Thao and her family are very grateful for the attention, encouragement and help from the government, neighbors and benefactors. Thao affirmed that she will study and practice well to fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor to serve the villagers.

Thao said that on September 6, she completed the admission procedures at Hanoi Medical University (Thanh Hoa branch). Because she is from a poor household, she is exempted from tuition fees.
