Female student wins MC championship thanks to skills of 'hot' major

The story of young people who dare not live their true lives, building a glamorous facade to gain admiration from society, was brought by Do Thi Thu Hien and her friends to the final round, contributing to winning the championship of the MC En Sinh Vien contest.

The 2024 Student MC En Contest has just awarded the Golden En prize to Do Thi Thu Hien, a final year student majoring in "hot" public relations at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, for her excellent performances on stage.

Thu Hien recounted: "In the final round, my performance was a story about young people who do not dare to live their true lives, building a glamorous shell to gain admiration from society. I and my co-host Minh Khoi exploited the keyword "cover" from many different perspectives, some people cover up to live lavishly, and some cover up to cover up a soul full of wounds and complexes."

According to Hien, in the second aspect, the female student and her host chose the story of people with HIV, they did not dare to face reality, collapsed in the darkness, but returned to life and were treated thanks to the spirit of solidarity of the community.

The beautiful female student went through many challenging rounds to win the championship of the MC En Sinh Vien contest thanks to the skills learned from the 'hot' major.

"We were the only contestants who brought fire to the stage to create an effect for the performance, with the act of burning the canvas and from the fire appearing a mirror, implying daring to face things. We wanted to send a message: No matter who you are, be confident in living, confident in loving, and confident in healing your wounds," Hien shared.

In all three competitions in the final round, including leading a pair, telling a story in the top 5, and behaving in the top 3, Hien had to go through situations that required quick improvisation. For example, in the top 5 round, the contestants had to compete directly on stage after the results were announced and were not prepared in advance. With the same keyword, each contestant would improvise a different story, not overlapping.

After many exciting rounds, Thu Hien won.

"When I first received the topic, I quickly edited the content of my speech in my head. But I didn't expect the contestant who presented before me to have his own content. There were only a few dozen seconds left until my turn. I was really nervous and worried because this was a decisive round. But I immediately calmed myself down, quickly rearranged the main ideas to change the content and create new points. And I was chosen to continue to the behavioral round," Hien recounted the nervous and tense moment.

Overcome challenges with the skills that 'hot' majors bring

Hien believes that she has many advantages to create this convincing victory. "4 years of studying public relations helped me have a logical mindset, know how to observe crowd psychology, think critically about all problems. Especially in the field of study, there are many subjects on public speaking skills, filming with professional equipment, organizing events... all of which create a foundation to help me have confidence, the ability to strategize and analyze, have sharp, unique perspectives and quick editing thinking", Hien shared.

According to the beautiful female student, En Sinh Vien is not only looking for an MC who speaks well, but also needs to know how to stage, edit scripts, direct sound, light... to create an attractive, neat and unique stage. Therefore, the skills acquired from the public relations industry have helped Hien develop her MC skills and with a long process of effort to practice pronunciation, body language..., Hien has achieved a truly complete result.

It is known that since she was a student, Hien had the opportunity to stand on stage as an MC, so her love for this job grew. In university, Hien registered to join the MC club and won many awards such as HUTECH's Host 2023 champion, Rising Star at VNPR Awards 2023, Diamond - Outstanding PR Project - Students at APRN Awards 2023... From here, Hien took a more serious look at considering MC as a career to pursue long-term, creating value and earning income.

Thu Hien wants to become a professional MC

Currently, in addition to studying at school, Hien also participates as an MC at events of businesses, brands and other universities. "MC is a profession that combines many skills, besides talent, there must be persistent training and great passion. In a fiercely competitive market like today, MCs need to constantly update their knowledge, social situations and entertainment trends, have a unique and different personal style, and constantly renew themselves in front of the public. Ultimately, I think sincerity, enthusiasm and respect for the audience in each program will make a dedicated and talented MC", Thu Hien commented.

In the immediate future, the 2024 Student Swallow champion hopes to become a professional MC, bringing her voice to convey positive messages to more people. "In addition, I also hope that besides the role of an MC, I can participate in community projects - supporting vulnerable groups in society such as women, children and the elderly," Thu Hien expressed.

The 2024 Student Swallow Contest is organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Student Cultural House in collaboration with the International University (Ho Chi Minh City National University) to create a professional playground, a training environment, discover and nurture the MC talents of students in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces. According to the contest organizers, in 2024, 150 contestants registered to compete. The contest consists of 3 preliminary, semi-final and final rounds taking place from October 5 to November 27. The organizers awarded 10 prizes, including: 1 Golden Swallow, 1 Silver Swallow, 1 Bronze Swallow and 7 Promising Swallow prizes.
