Meritorious Artist Hong Duc of the movie "Criminal Police" passed away at the age of 84.

On April 26, the family of Meritorious Artist Hong Duc announced that the veteran artist passed away at 10:15 p.m. on April 22 in Ho Chi Minh City, after a period of serious illness due to old age. He was 84 years old.

The family of the eldest daughter and youngest son are returning from Canada to Ho Chi Minh City to arrange the funeral for the veteran artist. His coffin is lying in state at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda (District 3).

The funeral took place on the morning of May 3, after which the male artist's coffin was taken to Phuc An Vien cemetery (Thu Duc city).

It is known that in the last years of his life, Meritorious Artist Hong Duc and his wife moved to Ho Chi Minh City to live with their second daughter.

Meritorious Artist Hong Duc's real name is Nguyen Van Duc, born in 1940 in My Duc district, Hanoi. He grew up in Hai Phong city and became an architect, working in Hai Phong.

From 1963 to 1969, he became a film actor at the Vietnam Feature Film Studio, now the Vietnam Feature Film Studio One Member Co., Ltd.

In 1964, Meritorious Artist Hong Duc played the main role, tank hero Cu Chinh Lan, in the film "The Young Soldier".

He impressed with his deep acting, bringing out the beautiful image of Uncle Ho's soldier. The role also helped him receive the Golden Lotus Award at the first Vietnam Film Festival in 1970 and the Certificate of Merit from the Soviet Cinematography Association at the Moscow International Film Festival in 1965.

After that, the male artist also participated in many films such as: "The Standard Flag", "A Car Trip", "The Stirring Dawn", "The Song of Dawn"...

In 2002, he was the actor who played the role of Tien "chi" - who was modeled after the real-life image of Nam Cam, in the TV series "White Collar" in the series "Criminal Police".

This scheming, brutal and very playboy character left a deep impression on the audience. So much so that artist Hong Duc once admitted that the role's name was Tien "chi" but when meeting him in real life, the audience all called him "Nam Cam".

Besides cinema, Meritorious Artist Hong Duc is also a veteran artist of the Central Drama Theater (now the Vietnam Drama Theater).

He appeared in many plays such as: "My Captain", "Tiger's Claw", "Song of Life", "Going Against the Current of Life"...
