Exploiting lotus ponds and ancient rose gardens for tourism
Nam Dan is a district that is moving towards building a model new rural area. Currently, the whole district has more than 100 hectares of lotus, of which Kim Lien commune has 30 hectares. Lotus is grown in Lang Sen 1, Lang Sen 2, Lien Hong, Hoang Tru, Lien Mau 1, Lien Mau 2 hamlets...
Lotus is grown in ineffective rice fields, which not only creates beautiful landscapes but also creates many unique tourism products from lotus roots, flowers, lotus leaves, lotus tea, etc.

In Nam Dan, lotus fields and lotus ponds serve both the tourist landscape of Uncle Ho's hometown and the production of OCOP products. Mr. Pham Kim Tien - Director of Uncle Ho's Hometown Lotus Cooperative is a pioneer in expanding the lotus varieties here with many types such as pink lotus, thousand-petal lotus, Quan Am lotus... From lotus, the Cooperative produces many unique products such as lotus root powder, lotus wine, and both high-end and popular lotus teas. Lotus tea is infused with lotus rice according to the traditional process to create a rich, refreshing aroma.
Coming to Nam Dan, visitors can admire lotus flowers, take photos with lotus flowers and also have the opportunity to experience the process of growing and processing lotus products, contributing to raising awareness of clean agriculture and preserving the culture here.

Nam Dan also has ancient rose gardens in Nam Anh commune, where people both harvest fruits for sale and for tourism. The hundreds of years old rose trees are full of fruit every autumn, the red color of the rose fruits captivates many people. Thousands of tourists have come to check-in the rose gardens in Nam Anh, combined with visiting other famous attractions such as Uncle Ho's hometown, Dai Tue pagoda...
If the local people and government continue to train farmers to do tourism, promote rose gardens, etc., it promises to be highly effective and sustainable.
