Farmers in Ho Chi Minh City unite to help each other get rich

Ho Chi Minh City is one of the economic locomotives, science and technology centers of the whole country. In addition to developing industry, trade and services, the City Party Committee and People's Committee always pay attention to encouraging and supporting investment in developing agricultural production and the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Farmers' Association constantly innovate the content and methods of operation, actively supporting farmer members to develop production and business effectively.

The Ho Chi Minh City Farmers' Association currently has 57,490 members, and the city's agriculture has made great strides, developing in the right direction of modern urban agriculture. In particular, the movement of farmers competing in production, good business, solidarity to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty is the core and continuous movement of the farmers' association at all levels. Through the movement, many advanced models have emerged, who are examples of diligence, dynamism, creativity, and the spirit of overcoming difficulties, determined to enrich themselves and help the community.

The associations at all levels have expanded the typical models, continued to train and support to have more and more typical farmers, excellent members, advanced models, and skillful mass mobilization models. In the past term, the Ho Chi Minh City Farmers' Association honored 90 models as "Typical Farmers of Ho Chi Minh City", 6 people as "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers" and 6 "Farmer Scientists".

The movement has promoted the role of household economy, production association groups, collective economy in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fishery, salt production, small-scale industry and services; promoted the transformation of rural socio-economic structure; gradually implemented the program of restructuring agricultural economy towards urban agriculture. Thereby, contributing to socio-economic development, participating in building new rural areas in the city. As a result, with the motto "using the people's strength to care for the people", the Ho Chi Minh City Farmers' Association has promoted the internal strength of 90 good farmer clubs, implemented 452 social security projects, helped 12,238 poor and near-poor households, and together with the association at all levels supported 3,189 households to overcome poverty and become rich.

Besides the advantages, the movement of farmers competing in production, good business, solidarity to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty still has some difficulties. In particular, the problem of rapidly decreasing agricultural land area and interspersing it in residential areas, causing difficulties for production; the quality of the movement is not uniform among units, localities, and production sectors and occupations; members and farmers have not taken advantage of the city's strengths in science and technology to apply to production...

To overcome the above difficulties, in recent times, farmers' associations at all levels have strengthened innovation and improved the quality of information and propaganda work, popularizing to members to register and strive to compete for the title of good farmers and businessmen. Actively coordinate with departments, branches and localities to transfer new science and technology to farmers for application in production; innovate vocational training, training and transfer of science and technology. In addition, farmers' associations at all levels also focus on coordinating to organize agricultural markets and spring flower markets, contributing to introducing typical agricultural products and OCOP products of the city to consumers.

In particular, recently, the association has boldly coordinated to organize for farmers to visit production models with high economic efficiency in the country and abroad so that members and farmers can improve their knowledge and skills and apply them to production. Linking the movement of farmers competing in production, good business, solidarity to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably with promoting the work of consolidating and building a strong association in all aspects.
