According to the specialized agency of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ha Tinh, from January 10 to 25, the whole province will have nearly 50,000 hectares of rice planted, accounting for 84.5% of the spring rice crop area this year.
Farmers in Ky Anh district are excited to start production for the 2024 spring crop on large fields.
Mr. Phan Van Huan - Head of Cultivation Department - Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) said: "In the 2024 spring crop, the whole province will restructure 59,107 hectares. The official sowing season starts from January 5. In the first crop (January 5 - 10), localities have sown about 2,000 hectares. From January 10 - 25, about 50,000 hectares of spring rice will be sown, focusing on about 80% of varieties and 84.5% of the area of this year's spring crop".
In particular, from January 10 to 15, localities will plant the following varieties: Nhi Uu 838, Thai Xuyen 111, Nep 98, Nep 87, CT16... with an area of about 5,000 hectares. From January 20 to 25, about 70% of the rice varieties structured in the 2024 spring crop will be planted in this time frame, including: KD18, KD mutation, BQ, LP5, Bac Thinh, ADI28, ADI168, DT80, HD11, VR10, Ha Phat 3... (total area of about 45,000 hectares). This is also the time frame where localities focus the most on the production of large, concentrated fields, high-quality rice...
According to experts, the weather is quite favorable, sunny, and the temperature is quite high, creating conditions for localities to speed up progress and complete the planting plan according to the seasonal framework.
However, this year, the Great Cold will fall on January 20 - the time when the coldest weather is forecast to occur most frequently in the year, coinciding with the sowing schedule of some rice varieties. Therefore, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development recommends that localities should base on the growth time of the varieties to arrange a reasonable sowing schedule.
Specifically, varieties with longer growing periods are arranged at the beginning of the crop time frame, and varieties with shorter growing periods are arranged at the end of the crop time frame. 100% of the seedling area must be covered with nylon according to technical procedures.
In addition, it is necessary to base on short-term weather forecasts to direct seed soaking and incubation, minimizing damage caused by cold.
