On June 28, information from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Long An province said that through information gathering from employees at Long An Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital (Ward 7, Tan An City, Long An), this hospital has not paid salaries or has not paid enough salaries to employees up to 16 billion VND.
Of which, the debt to employees who are still working is 4.5 billion VND, and the debt to employees who have quit is 11.5 billion VND.
According to the department, after receiving many complaints about the hospital's unpaid wages, the department sent documents and went directly to the hospital many times to request a report on the unpaid wages. However, the hospital did not cooperate and did not send a written report to the department as requested.
Mr. Nguyen Dai Tanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Long An province, said that in the coming time, he will continue to monitor, urge and remind the hospital to pay salaries to employees according to regulations.
The Department also instructed employees who have quit their jobs to submit complaints to the hospital's operating unit. If the complaint is not resolved, the employee can submit a complaint to the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Tan An City, Long An or file a lawsuit at the People's Court of Tan An City according to the provisions of the Labor Law.
"According to the staff at this hospital, the hospital's investor has recently encountered many difficulties. The number of patients coming for examination has also decreased significantly. Many medical staff at the hospital have quit their jobs. Due to financial difficulties, the hospital has not yet paid salaries to employees according to regulations," Mr. Tanh informed.
Long An Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital is a large-scale project designed with 500 beds, with a total construction area of nearly 14,000m2 and an investment capital of more than 1,300 billion VND.
After a long period of stagnation due to lack of capital, in 2019, the People's Committee of Long An province approved the project to lease the right to exploit medical infrastructure assets and organize an auction.
The Technical World Group (TWG, Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City) won the bid with a price of 23.5 billion VND per year, calculated on a 5-year inflation rate. It was then licensed to operate as a multidisciplinary clinic.
According to the Long An Provincial Department of Health, the hospital is currently carrying out procedures to request support for reduction and exemption of construction exploitation rental fees during the period affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as during the current difficult period.
Long An province's departments and branches have also made reports and proposed solutions to investors' difficulties and problems in hospital operations under the direction of the Provincial People's Committee.
