Socio-economic achievements many positive results
January 2025 is the month of Lunar New Year holiday with many tasks that need to be carefully prepared and urgently completed, especially the work of taking care of people to enjoy the Spring Festival.
According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, in January 2025, the province's socio-economic situation continued to achieve many positive results. Accordingly, agricultural production continued to be well organized and implemented.
Industrial production, trade, services, tourism, and exports continued to grow; state budget revenue exceeded assigned estimates.
Policies for people with meritorious services, social protection, social security, employment, education and training, culture, and people's health care continue to be effectively implemented.
Information and communication work and administrative reform continued to be well maintained. The work of building the Project to rearrange and streamline the organizational apparatus in the area was promoted. National defense, security, and social order and safety continued to be maintained stably.
Specifically, the total state budget revenue in the month is estimated at 1,361 billion VND, reaching 19.82% of the yearly estimate, up 6.02% over the same period.
Total budget expenditure in the month is estimated at VND 749.8 billion, up 21.87% over the same period. The balance of mobilized capital reached VND 54,750 billion, up 0.16% over the beginning of the year; total outstanding loans are estimated at VND 52,492 billion, up 0.5% over the beginning of the year.
The total capital for basic construction investment under the state budget capital plan managed by localities in 2025 is 6,802.43 billion VND; in January, more than 158 billion VND was implemented and disbursed.
Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in the month is estimated at VND6,989 billion, up 35.93% over the same period. Total export turnover of the province in the month is estimated at USD108.4 million, up 20.34% over the same period.
However, the economy still has some difficulties and limitations such as: the disbursement of public investment capital is still lower than planned; some human diseases show signs of increasing compared to the same period last year; the shortage of drugs, medical supplies, and chemicals has not been completely resolved; crimes related to social order, economy, environment, and drugs are on the rise.
To promote growth and effectively disburse public investment capital, Mr. Vo Quoc Thanh - Director of the Department of Planning and Investment suggested that procedures for design, cost estimates, and bidding must be immediately implemented in the first quarter.
He also requested that localities focus on site clearance work from February. At the same time, he requested that investors with investment projects in districts, towns and cities work immediately with localities.
For projects using non-budgetary capital, it is necessary to focus on consulting and quickly resolving projects that are stuck in procedures to speed up implementation progress. At the same time, quickly organize investment calls for large, urgent projects/works with spillover effects to create development momentum.
Create breakthroughs, promote potential and strengths
According to the Vinh Long Industrial Park Management Board, after the Lunar New Year holiday, by February 10, 2025, 100% of businesses returned to work with 48,197 workers.
Mr. Tran Minh Khoi - Head of the Industrial Park Management Board said that the number of workers returning to work accounted for 92%; the number of absent workers accounted for 8%. Of which, the majority were due to maternity leave and leave with permission (sickness, personal reasons); only about 300 workers were absent without permission and quit their jobs.
To date, the occupancy rate of industrial parks has reached 96%, the construction rate has reached 80.6%. In 2024, 8 investors have started construction, expected to come into operation in 2025.
It is expected that in 2025, there will be 7 more investors implementing the project, of which 2 out of 7 investors are currently facing difficulties and problems that need to be resolved soon.

Mr. Khoi also informed that in 2025, the order situation of large companies and enterprises such as Ty Xuan, Ty Bach... is quite large. Therefore, currently, companies and enterprises in the two industrial parks, Hoa Phu Industrial Park and Binh Minh Industrial Park, are in need of about 15,000 workers.
He also recommended that resettlement areas should be built soon in Dong Binh Industrial Park and Glimex Industrial Park... to speed up the implementation of these industrial parks.
