When we arrived at Ganh Son, messages were cleverly hung by a group of young people right on the path, catching the eyes of anyone passing by. Those messages were “Be ashamed! for littering in Ganh Son”; “When you see litter falling, remember to pick it up”; “Let’s leave our children a beautiful beach, don’t leave any trash behind”…
Binh Thuan has the advantage of a 192 km long coastline, with extremely rich natural landscapes, attracting tourists from all over the world. However, reality also shows that, at this time, some beaches in Binh Thuan are experiencing the phenomenon of ocean trash washing ashore, causing significant impacts on the aesthetics and tourism activities, and the environment. For example, the Ganh Son beach area (Chi Cong commune, Tuy Phong) has been introduced to people and tourists from all over the country as an ideal destination during holidays and summer, because of the beautiful scenery bestowed by nature. However, in the general picture of that destination, there are still "issues" that are difficult to solve that have occurred for many years, which is coastal trash. When I witnessed groups of women, groups of teenagers, and children sitting and playing on the sand... full of trash, I really could not believe it.
A local resident shared that every year in this area, there is a group of young people who often organize garbage collection activities at Ganh Son beach, with the program "For beloved Ganh Son", collecting garbage with the simple purpose of having a beautiful beach for people and children to play. Through following on Facebook pages, I learned about a group of young people who are passionate about their hometown Chi Cong, with the effort to change people's awareness, not to litter indiscriminately... However, the reality is that after many garbage collection campaigns, only a short time later, the situation of garbage with nylon bags, styrofoam boxes... has spread all over the beach, which is also the place where people and tourists come to have fun and relax.
There are many reasons mentioned for the situation of ocean waste washing ashore when the windy season comes. There are also many campaigns and activities to collect waste by socio-political organizations and people for the purpose of protecting a green, clean and beautiful environment. However, a reality that has been reflected a lot and contributes to the phenomenon of ocean waste washing ashore, is also considered the "root" cause, which is that many local households still have the habit of dumping daily household waste into the sea, because... there is no waste collection service (for example in some coastal villages of Chi Cong commune). Therefore, along with green messages, from practical actions and the efforts and enthusiasm of young people, it is necessary for everyone to join hands to have a green, clean and beautiful living environment and become "livable" places.
In particular, towards World Environment Day (June 5), from this time in Binh Thuan in particular and the whole country in general, there will be many community activities, movements to clean up the environment, plant trees, collect and treat waste... to protect the environment, respond to climate change with practical and effective actions. Particularly for the destination of Ganh Son, to attract tourists, it is necessary for many people to join hands to build and develop together. The immediate task is to join hands to preserve a clean and beautiful environment, not to litter indiscriminately into the sea, so that the natural wonder of Ganh Son in particular and the coastal tourism of the province will become increasingly green, clean, attracting visitors from near and far...
