Women at retirement age can still continue to do the jobs they love. If you are healthy and want to contribute, continue to work... When you continue to "think", your mind does not slow down, you even forget about old age, feel happy, healthy...

Ms. TRAN THI NGOC THUY

They are people who know how to "design" their lives and are not afraid of old age. What have these very special women done?

"Working with young people, I forget about old age!"

At the age of 66, Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Thuy (residing in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) still holds the position of Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and Director of Wembley Medical Factory Joint Stock Company.

At the age of 55, Ms. Thuy was supposed to retire, but she continued working at a pharmaceutical company for 2 more years, officially retiring at the age of 57.

During the three months of retirement, Ms. Thuy felt time passing slowly and felt like an unnecessary person because she could not do anything useful.

During a conversation with some friends, Ms. Thuy and these friends wanted to do "something" together.

Later, after learning that the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park had investment incentives, Ms. Thuy and her friends planned and pooled capital to establish a business producing consumables in the medical industry. Producing needles, blood tubes..., these are items used daily in the medical industry but still have to be imported.

At the end of 2015, Ms. Thuy and her friends started their "start-up". First, they completed procedures such as applying for an investment certificate, applying for land lease..., then establishing a business.

"At that time, I only thought I would work for about 5-7 years. But during the process, I got caught up in the work. The company recruited many young people with knowledge and enthusiasm.

Working with young people, I forget my old age, feel excited, happy... and more and more passionate about my work," Ms. Thuy shared.

In the process of giving projects to young people to research, and then listening to their reports, I felt very "excited".

Young people have knowledge, find production solutions suitable for the Vietnamese people's circumstances, and the price is much lower than imported goods... And when the company produces products, Ms. Thuy feels very happy to contribute a small part to life and to the people.

Ms. Thuy said that when she was younger, she had many worries such as taking care of children, going to the market, cooking... so she could not devote herself to work as much as she does now. But at this age, with her children grown up and her husband and her living together, she feels that she has all her time for herself. She puts all her heart into her work.

Ms. Thuy believes that there are jobs that wear out the workers’ strength when they reach retirement age. But there are also jobs that use brainpower, and when they reach retirement age, the more experience they have, the more they continue to work well.

To have a happy life, it is not only work but also close relationships that will help you be happy. And knowing how to design your life will always make your life vibrant and happy.

Ms. HOANG ANH PHUONG

Produce things that you have previously researched

Ms. Hoang Anh Phuong, now 72 years old (living in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City), said that when she was young, she studied abroad in many countries around the world. Ms. Phuong attended university and did research in Russia for 11 years, then she received scholarships and continued to do research in Japan for 2 years, in Belgium for 6 years...

After returning home, she worked for a company in Hanoi. After retiring, she moved to Ho Chi Minh City and began a new journey - "starting a business" at the age of 60.

"A friend and I decided to establish a company to produce the things I had researched before, not a trading company like many startups. Therefore, I am very happy to contribute to creating wealth and material for society," Ms. Phuong shared.

Ms. Phuong has many research applications in construction such as tile adhesive, specialized mortar, fiberglass reinforced concrete for reliefs, column cladding, exterior decorative moldings...

Her joy was multiplied when many regular customers trusted her and placed orders with her. Her company's products were not only sold domestically but also competed with companies around the world.

"People like my products not because they like me, but because they like the quality of those products," Ms. Phuong understands that clearly. Therefore, in her work, she always demands a lot from herself and her products.

Ms. Phuong has now assigned someone else to directly run the company. She acts as an advisor, monitoring operations and advising clients when needed.

Although she is 72 years old, Ms. Phuong is still a person who is "not afraid of change" and "always learning". Her daughter moved to France and left her a piano. For the past 10 years, she has been persistent in studying this favorite subject. There are days when she reads books and documents all day. She does housework while listening to podcasts to update her knowledge....

The secret to having positive energy, according to Ms. Phuong, is that she always thinks positively, always sees the positive side of things, does not let external factors affect her mood, always finds joy every day and knows how to forget things that do not need to be remembered.

Mrs. Phuong loves to travel. So far, she has been to 80 countries around the world, including business trips. She also plans to visit the remaining countries.

Even though she is over 70 years old, she still connects with her friends from her first year in Hanoi, her high school friends, university friends, business association, apartment neighbors...

In addition, according to her, to have a happy life and positive thinking, you also need to exercise a lot. Every day, Ms. Phuong walks about 5km and goes swimming three times a week.

The exciting new journey that Ms. Phuong, Ms. Thuy and some other women in their sixties have gone through has created excitement and energy for women.
