Young people are tirelessly on their journey of dedication.

There are young people who are willing to spend their youth living and working for the community; their greatest wish is not for themselves but for the good of society . For them, living for the community is the noble mission of youth.
In the online exchange program "Vietnamese Youth - Beautiful Stories" with the theme "Journey to spread good values" directed by the Central Youth Union and organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper, young people across the country were able to listen to and exchange stories about young people living beautifully.

If I don't do it, who will?

With that question and also a reminder to themselves, these young people have contributed to life beautiful stories. Nguyen Ngoc Anh, founder of the Green Vietnam community, once thought that she was just a small girl, normally she could not do great things for the community. Then, while traveling in Vung Tau, she saw children building a very large castle on the beach, but not with sand but with trash. Ngoc Anh wondered: "Why are you building a castle with trash like that?", and the children replied very innocently: "We just build whatever we see."

The program will be broadcast in 5 episodes on December 20, 23, 25, 27 and 30; online at thanhnien.vn, Facebook fanpage, YouTube and TikTok channels of Thanh Nien Newspaper, Central Youth Union Electronic Information Portal, Central Youth Union Propaganda Department

At that time, Ngoc Anh suddenly thought: "If I don't do it, who will? If I don't act today, when will I?". And she started that journey by changing her daily habits such as not using plastic straws, bringing a basket to the market... From those small actions, Anh nurtured her love for the environment and founded Xanh Vietnam. At first, there were only a few dozen people, then hundreds, thousands and now more than 100,000 members. What made Anh happiest was that a large campaign was organized by Xanh Vietnam and in one day, in 63 provinces and islands of Vietnam, more than 120,000 young Vietnamese people and friends from other countries wore shirts printed with the red flag and yellow star to pick up trash, returning green to the environment. On that day, more than 700 tons of trash were cleaned up. "Such campaigns have greatly inspired young people, starting with small actions like cleaning up trash around them," Anh happily said. As for Lieutenant Doctor Do Pham Nguyet Thanh (Military Hospital 175), the journey to a beautiful life begins with constantly improving knowledge and contributing to the field of scientific research. The research aims to contribute to improving quality, how to bring the health sector of Ho Chi Minh City as well as the whole country closer to the quality of world health. At the same time, it can be applied in practice to solve problems in public health, raise people's awareness in protecting their health... Facing pressure almost every day, when "relieving stress", the female military doctor also thinks of things that are useful for the community. Doctor Nguyet Thanh said: "I really like children, so on weekends I spend time teaching English to disadvantaged children where I live. That is also a way to balance life because playing with children makes me very happy". And when hearing the story of Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh, member of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, Captain of the Southern Traffic Support Patrol Team, everyone called him "a hero in the Covid-19 pandemic". During the most dangerous time of the epidemic, he and his teammates did jobs that few people dared to do, including transporting the bodies of Covid-19 patients. A task that not only required courage but also sacrifice, because it directly faced danger. When asked if he was afraid at those times, Mr. Hoang Anh immediately said: "If we say we were afraid, all the team members were afraid. But at that time, the enthusiasm of the youth rose so everyone encouraged each other to be determined to do it. And when starting to work, there were times when fear arose, everyone held hands to create a bond". And the memorable memory of that time for Mr. Hoang Anh is: "Once I moved a victim who had been dead for several days on a small attic. With some motivation, I was still able to carry the victim from the attic down by myself. Thinking back now, I still don't understand why I was able to do it at that time."

Dedicate your dreams to the happiness of the community

Working for the community, these young people also face many difficulties and challenges. For Ngoc Anh, the difficulty is that when participating in collecting trash, they face many risks such as pollution, bad odors, and have to sacrifice their skin and time. However, Anh affirmed: "My current time is spent on the community more than on myself". Anh also said that when she did this job, many people said that she was "busybody", gossiping. For Anh, this is not too difficult to overcome, but not all young people are like that. Anh said: "To do this job, you have to equip yourself with a good spirit. Always determine the mindset that you want to do it, not to do it to be recognized". Not only working hard on the journey of living for the community, young people also focus on spreading positive things to multiply beautiful stories together. For female doctor Nguyet Thanh, she spreads kindness and goodness to her own relatives and then to the community on a small scale such as the neighborhood, workplace... "If each person can spread it to 10 people, the beautiful story will be multiplied a lot. From small communities, it will gradually spread to the whole society. Like during the Covid-19 pandemic, at first I invited my family to make anti-droplet shields, then the whole neighborhood did it together and spread the model to other areas in the city", Dr. Nguyet Thanh shared. When asked about her dream, the female doctor confided: "I wish everyone to be healthy, happy, and joyful. Healthy in both mental and physical health. I also hope that in the near future, Vietnam will be a healthy country and have a happiness index in the top of the world". Ngoc Anh's wish is to soon... be unemployed. Because by then the environment will be clean, free of waste and pollution. To make that dream come true, Ngoc Anh said that in the near future, the Green Vietnam community plans to have more sustainable solutions for the environment, mainly aiming to share, promote, and spread inspiration to young people, students, and university students across the country about the love for the environment. "When the number of people cleaning up trash is greater than the number of people littering, Vietnam will quickly become green, clean, and beautiful," Anh confided. Hoang Anh's biggest wish is that everyone has first aid skills to protect themselves and help those around them. "In the near future, my teammates and I will continue to share and promote traffic culture to everyone. I believe that when we promote more, we will improve and raise people's awareness," Hoang Anh said.
