iPad models not updated to iPadOS 18

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên04/03/2024

iPadOS 18 will be introduced by Apple this fall, but not all models running iOS 17 will be able to update to the latest version of the operating system. MacRumors quoted an anonymous source confirming that iPad models running the A10X Fusion chip will be excluded from the update list expected to be released in September.

The first two models on this list will be the 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro duo launched in 2017 because they both use the A10X Fusion chip. In addition, the iPad Gen 6 and 7 also have to stop at iPadOS 17 because they run the A10 Fusion chip, which is weaker than the A10X version.

The source quickly removed the post after making the leak public, but it was likely due to a decision to reduce attention, not because the information was inaccurate. This person has done this many times in the past, and the information they leaked was accurate to reality.

iPadOS 18 sẽ được giới thiệu lần đầu vào tháng 6 tới đây

iPadOS 18 will be first introduced next June

Thus, the iPad generations expected to be updated to iPadOS 18 include iPad Pro 2018 and later, similarly iPad Air 2019, iPad Mini 2019, iPad Gen 2020 so far.

The new iPadOS will be officially introduced by Apple at the WWDC 2024 developer conference, which usually takes place in June every year. But it will not be until September that the new operating system for iPad will be widely released to users.

This year, technology experts predict that Apple will bring new iPad Pro models (2024) with 2 screen sizes of 11 inches and 13 inches. These could be the first tablet models with the "bitten apple" logo along with OLED panels as well as the M3 processor chip on the 3nm process.

This March, it is likely that the iPad Air 2024 will appear and it is not excluded that for the first time the company will launch two different versions of the Air tablet, specifically adding a 12.9-inch size next to the traditional 10.9-inch model. Leaked information to date confirms that this duo is equipped with an Apple M2 chip manufactured by TSMC, using the 2nd generation 5nm process.

iPad Mini 7 is also an expected name this year after the successful debut of its "senior" Mini 6 3 years ago.

2023 is the first year since Apple introduced the first iPad (in 2010) that the company has not launched a new tablet.
