According to Master, Doctor Nguyen Minh Anh, Stroke Center, Bach Mai Hospital, exercising brings great benefits to everyone's health, but knowing how to exercise properly is something everyone needs to know.
In training, we need to distinguish between moderate training and excessive training. If we exercise for an average of 30-45 minutes every day, 5 days a week, it is called moderate training intensity. If we exceed the recommended intensity, we must see if our body can handle that level of training.
For those who exercise too hard, it is necessary to consider the surrounding factors that affect them, for example, whether there is a family history of heart disease, blood pressure, or diabetes. In cases where people always feel lethargic, tired, have a poor appetite, or have insomnia after exercising, they also need to review their exercise process. " If you exercise without listening to your body, there can be many risks such as stroke," said Dr. Minh Anh.
In fact, there are many cases of stroke while playing sports. (Illustration photo)
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Manh Khanh, Deputy Director of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, stroke tends to be younger, appearing in people in their 20s and even younger, accounting for up to 1/3 of stroke cases. In particular, some cases of stroke while exercising make many people worried.
There are two main groups of strokes during sports. The first group occurs in people with underlying medical conditions that are not known. This group is often found in people with cerebral vascular malformations (cerebral aneurysms) or underlying myocarditis, causing acute myocardial infarction or acute cerebral hemorrhage. It is difficult for patients to know they have the disease because there are usually no symptoms, and only when a stroke occurs do they know. However, these cases are very rare.
The second group is people who play sports too hard, are too passionate, and push their endurance beyond their own ability. For example, this person can only run 5km, after training they push it up to 10km, 20km, but they try to run 50km, even 100km, so it is not suitable.
Doctors recommend that the choice of sport should be appropriate to the age. Sports that require a lot of movement such as soccer and long-distance running are preferred for teenagers.
For older people, walking, cycling, swimming are possible. Especially when playing, you should not increase the intensity immediately. For running, you need to warm up thoroughly, gradually increase the pace so that the heart can contract and adapt.
The human body only has a certain threshold, if it exceeds the threshold, it requires a long-term training and adaptation process. Accelerating that process will lead to overloading of the body, the heart will fail to supply enough blood, the lungs must work continuously to exchange oxygen. The heart is only about 90 beats/minute, if pushed to 180-200 beats/minute, it is too fast, exceeding the body's tolerance threshold, leading to acute heart failure and stroke.
Experts also say that the most serious complications that athletes often encounter in hospitals are acute heart failure and stroke. Runners need to have a device to measure their heart rate, and should not let their heart rate get too high, only 120 is appropriate.
From the information shared by experts, we have learned the notes when exercising to avoid the risk of stroke. To ensure that exercising brings the best results, you should check your health, or see a doctor for advice, to avoid unfortunate consequences.
