Comrade Trinh Thanh Dat, Director of Tra Vinh Sports Training and Competition Center, said that in recent years, provinces and cities across the country have increasingly invested in and competed fiercely in high-performance sports. However, with the attention and close direction of the Provincial Party Committee, Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee and the coordination between sectors, priority has been given to investing resources in facilities, training and competition equipment...
In addition, Tra Vinh has issued timely reward mechanisms and policies that have helped the coaches and athletes of the province's sports teams to practice and compete with peace of mind, achieving many high achievements in national and international tournaments. Regarding facilities, Tra Vinh has just built and put into use a multi-purpose gymnasium with a capacity of 2,000 seats; completed a stadium that meets the standards for 11-a-side football tournaments, with a 5,000-seat grandstand, located on Le Van Tam Street, Ward 9, Tra Vinh City.
At the same time, Resolution No. 12/2021/NQ-HDND, dated June 29, 2021 of the People's Council of Tra Vinh province stipulates the level of expenditure for implementing special nutritional regimes for coaches and high-performance athletes in Tra Vinh province; Decision No. 29/2023/QD-UBND, dated December 7, 2023 of the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province stipulates the level of monetary rewards for coaches and athletes who achieve achievements in sports tournaments... has created a push, increasing motivation to help coaches and athletes strive to practice and compete well to bring achievements to the province.
In addition, thanks to the timely leadership and direction from the governing sector - the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tra Vinh, the sports sector has invested in strong sports, suitable for the qualities of Tra Vinh people in recent years in the direction of developing professional sports, reaching out to national and international arenas, which has brought about positive results.
Proud of its tradition on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day (March 27, 1946 - March 27, 2025), Tra Vinh Sports with solidarity, efforts, overcoming all difficulties and challenges. The collective of Tra Vinh Sports coaches and athletes during training and competition have exchanged sweat, tears and even overcome physical pain... to bring proud achievements to the province.
In 2024, Tra Vinh high-performance sports participated in 37 competitions in the national system. Thereby, winning 128 medals of all kinds, including: 34 Gold Medals, 30 Silver Medals and 64 Bronze Medals. During the year, 07 athletes were called to join the youth teams and national teams in the disciplines of Taekwondo, Karate, Petanque, Aerobics and Athletics...
Notably, the petanque athlete selected to compete in the Asian tournament won 01 Gold Medal in the women's doubles event in Taiwan in November 2024, the Aerobic athlete won 02 Silver Medals at the Asian Youth Championship. In the athletics category, athlete Nguyen Thi Yen Linh won a Gold Medal and broke the national record in the chain throw event.
In the first months of 2025 alone, Tra Vinh high-performance sports participated in 02 tournaments and won 03 Gold Medals and 03 Silver Medals. Of which, the National Beach Kurash Championship won 01 Gold Medal (Thach Thi Hai Yen, women's up to 45 kg weight category) and 01 Silver Medal (Nguyen Thach Hong Khuyen, women's up to 42 kg weight category). The National Petanque Championship hosted by Dong Thap province from March 14 to 23, the Tra Vinh petanque team excellently brought home 02 Gold Medals (men's doubles Xuan Toan, Quoc Nhan and women's doubles Anh Lan, Thu Thao) and 02 Silver Medals (men's singles Xuan Toan, women's singles Anh Lan).
Every medal won must be exchanged with sweat, tears and sometimes physical pain... However, having taken on this career, no matter how difficult it is, athletes will restrain themselves to overcome it. Especially, for athletes, every time they bring achievements to themselves and their country, it is a source of national pride. Because the medals won, especially in international arenas, are not only for the winner, but also the pride of fans, the pride of the whole nation...
At the visit and New Year greetings to artists, intellectuals and athletes who have contributed to the development of the province in 2024, athlete Kim Thi Thu Thao, Tra Vinh petanque team and members of the national team expressed their determination: "Each medal is a meaningful gratitude from all teachers, coaches and athletes to leaders at all levels as well as fans.
