A special art program telling a unique cultural story about “the journey of Dak Lak coffee beans becoming the world’s ‘black gold’” will officially open the upcoming 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival.
Notably, the festival organizers said there will be many new and attractive tours to serve tourists at the 9th festival season, taking place from March 9-13 in Dak Lak.
Unique journey experiences
According to the representative of the organizing committee, this year's festival will have outstanding tour programs with many types such as: Returning to the Central Highlands, experiencing elephants with the Mnong people; Lak district dugout canoe racing festival; Rafting and rowing over waterfalls; Super terrain vehicle tour through the forest and waterfalls; Experience exploring coffee, Discovering Buon Don - the legendary land...
To connect with the series of activities at the festival locations, the tours will be flexibly built to facilitate visitors to visit, experience and explore the unique beauty of culture, nature, people... Dak Lak.
According to Mr. Lai Duc Dai, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak, 3,000 "Tourist Itinerary" handbooks integrating information about the activities of the Coffee Festival as well as publicizing the listed prices, addresses of tourist attractions, dining, shopping, etc. will be sent to tourists. At the same time, the locality has also created a QR-Code to help tourists conveniently look up on the digital platform and choose a suitable schedule.

In particular, the new feature of this year's festival is the addition of a heritage journey program to promote and honor local heritages. The programs are flexibly built in time from 1 day, 1 day 1 night, 2 days 1 night, to 4 days 3 nights... Each program will have many types suitable for each customer group, helping participants to fully experience the beauty of local culture, tourism, ecology, and agriculture.
“We believe that the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2025 will be a meaningful cultural, tourism and trade promotion activity, supporting domestic and foreign enterprises to promote their products, linking the development between production and export, expanding the market, promoting the effectiveness of investment cooperation activities, mobilizing social resources, creating conditions for the local economy to develop quickly and effectively, in the context of opportunities from the era of national development,” emphasized the Standing Vice Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Festival Organizing Committee, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Ha.
Cultural highlights of the community in the “Coffee Capital of Vietnam”
Buon Ma Thuot City is known as the "Coffee Capital of Vietnam," with a growing area of about 210,000 hectares and an annual harvest of more than 520,000 tons, accounting for more than 30% of the country's coffee output.
With that scale, continuing the spirit of the eight previous festivals, this year's festival season will especially honor the role of coffee growers, processors and traders; introduce tourism potentials, promote investment in the coffee and local agricultural products sectors; promote the traditional culture of ethnic minorities, especially the Gong Cultural Space and intangible cultural heritages in Dak Lak.

Mr. Lai Duc Dai, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak, said that the festival will have more than ten special events, including six community highlights, including: Coffee and OCOP Products Exhibition Fair; Specialty Coffee Roasting Competition; Farmers' Competition; International Trade Conference - Connecting and Elevating Vietnamese Coffee; Street and Light Festival; Lak District Dugout Canoe Racing Festival; Buon Don Elephant Festival.
During the festival, visitors also have the opportunity to enjoy free local coffee at hundreds of qualified coffee shops in Dak Lak province, most of which are concentrated in Buon Ma Thuot.
These community highlights, according to local leaders, will contribute to effectively exploiting the image and brand of local coffee brands and products, affirming the subtle and core values of Buon Ma Thuot coffee culture to a large number of consumers.
With the scale of the 9th festival, the festival organizers said they will focus on promoting communication and multimedia promotion of activities and events through social networking accounts and community forums, in order to spread information, images and cultural beauty imbued with the identity of the Central Highlands to a large number of people and domestic and international tourists.

In particular, the two media ambassadors of the festival, Miss Universe Vietnam 2017, Top 5 Miss Universe World 2018 H'Hen Nie, and Miss Vietnam Tourism Ambassador 2024 Dinh Thi Hoa, both of whom are natives of Dak Lak, also committed to actively accompanying the events, thereby contributing to increasing the media value in the community, especially the youth, helping to spread the image and value of Dak Lak coffee and the Central Highlands in particular, and Vietnam in general./.
