Thoroughly grasping the spirit of “Discipline - Responsibility - Action - Creativity - Development”, right from the beginning of the year, the Party Committees and authorities of Thanh Hoa City have entered into the implementation of their tasks with great determination and high responsibility. Thanks to that, in 2024, the city's socio-economy will continue to develop with many outstanding marks in all fields.
Of the 37 targets for 2024, Thanh Hoa City has 19 targets exceeding the plan and 15 targets completing the plan. The highlight in 2024 is the city's state budget revenue reaching 4,158.8 billion VND, reaching 141% of the provincial estimate and 118% of the city's assigned estimate. The total production value reached 81,220 billion VND, ranking 2nd in the province (after Nghi Son town) and accounting for 18.4% of the province's production value. The growth rate of production value reached 10.25%, up 2 places compared to 2023 and ranking 4th in the province (after Sam Son city, Nghi Son town and Bim Son town)...
Playing an important role in the economy, industrial production and small-scale industry have grown positively. The value of industrial and construction production reached VND53,101 billion, up 10.44% over the same period. In industrial development, the city has attracted 5 secondary investment projects with a total registered capital of VND161 billion. Along with that, the city has coordinated with investors to organize the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Northeast industrial cluster project with an area of nearly 20 hectares, with a total investment of VND156 billion; starting 4 key projects: Children's Cultural Palace; upgrading and renovating Hoi An Park; North-South railway overpass; expanding Le Loi Avenue, from Phu Son intersection to Dong bridge with a total investment of more than VND2,000 billion. During the year, the city has promoted and mobilized the establishment of 1,475 enterprises (achieving 100.34% of the plan assigned by the province).
Export activities also reflect the economic recovery. In 2024, despite facing many difficulties, the city's total export value of goods reached 1,825 million USD, up 25.5% over the same period, accounting for 27.5% of the province's export value. Key export products such as frozen shrimp, frozen squid, ready-made garments, exported leather shoes, etc. increased sharply. The city maintained 139 units participating in exporting various types of goods; key export products continued to grow, traditional markets remained stable, new markets were expanded with export output increasing compared to the same period.
The trade and service sector has become a driving force for the development of other economic sectors. In 2024, the total retail sales of goods and revenue from service sectors reached VND 49,117 billion, ranking first in the province. Transportation services have grown positively due to the strong recovery of tourism and the high demand for transportation to serve production and import and export of goods. Tourism activities are closely linked to festivals and cultural events organized by the province and the city. Notable events include the event "Thanh Hoa City - Hoi An City Cultural Week", the program "Weekend Rendezvous", the opening of Phan Chu Trinh walking street and Lam Son Square cultural space, a series of cultural and artistic activities to celebrate the August Revolution and National Day September 2... Thanks to that, the tourism industry has achieved impressive results. In 2024, the city will welcome 2,560,000 tourists and visitors, with total tourism revenue reaching VND 4,800 billion.
After the Prime Minister approved the general urban planning of Thanh Hoa, Thanh Hoa province to 2040, the city has accelerated the progress of establishing transitional construction plans from previous years to specify the Thanh Hoa urban development program. In particular, the city has completed the Thanh Hoa urban classification project to meet the criteria of a type I urban area and was approved and recognized by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 795/QD-TTg dated August 5, 2024; completed the report assessing the level of infrastructure development in the area where the ward is expected to be established in Thanh Hoa urban area and was recognized by the Ministry of Construction in Decision No. 777/QD-BXD dated August 12, 2024. This is an important basis for the National Assembly Standing Committee to issue Resolution 1238/NQ-UBTVQH15 on merging Dong Son district into the city and establishing wards in the city on October 24, 2024, opening up new opportunities, creating new positions and strengths for Thanh Hoa city to develop more strongly in the future.
Along with the bright spots in economic development, the cultural and social fields also have many positive changes. Social security is taken care of, people's lives are improved. National defense - security, order and social safety are ensured. Party building and the political system are strengthened; discipline and administrative discipline are improved. The Fatherland Front and the city's socio-political organizations strongly focus on the grassroots with many practical and effective activities.
The achieved results have vividly reflected the fresh nuances in the picture of the city's socio-economic development in 2024. Speaking at the 23rd meeting of the City Party Executive Committee held in early November, Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Thanh Hoa City People's Council Le Anh Xuan emphasized: "These results demonstrate the determination and efforts to overcome difficulties of all levels and sectors, along with the active contributions of the business community and all classes of people. That is an important foundation for Thanh Hoa City to strive to successfully complete the goals and tasks set out in 2025 - a year that plays a particularly important role in completing the goals of the 21st City Party Congress, term 2020-2025 and the 5-year socio-economic development plan 2021-2025 of the city".
