However, currently, rabies in Soc Son district is developing complicatedly. Since 2024, the district has recorded 8 communes with rabies epidemics in dogs and cats, with the latest case recorded in Tan Dan commune in February 2025.

To proactively prevent and control rabies in dogs and cats, the Agricultural Service Center of Soc Son district recommends that people proactively vaccinate their pets against rabies and repeat the vaccination annually according to the recommendations of the veterinary industry.

Soc Son District Agricultural Service Center recommends that people do not let dogs and cats roam freely, but should lock them up, chain them carefully, and muzzle them when letting them out on the street. Do not play with or tease dogs and cats. Be proactive in preventing attacks from dogs and cats.

When bitten or licked by a dog or cat, people need to thoroughly wash the wound with soap and clean water continuously for 15 minutes; if soap is not available, rinse the wound with clean water. This is a first aid measure, very necessary to minimize the risk of rabies virus infection when bitten by a dog or cat.

Next, people need to wash the wound with 70% alcohol, iodine alcohol or povidone, iodine. Absolutely do not squeeze blood, do not rub the wound, avoid making the wound worse. At the same time, go to a medical facility immediately for advice and vaccination.
