Da Nang announces decision to establish drug rehabilitation facility

Kinhtedothi-On March 15, Da Nang Police held a ceremony to announce the decision of the Minister of Public Security on the establishment of the city's Drug Rehabilitation Center.

Attending the ceremony were Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong; Colonel Nguyen Van Tang, Party Secretary, Director of the City Police; Colonel Phan Van Dung, Deputy Director of the City Police and representatives of relevant departments, agencies and branches.

According to the decision of the Minister of Public Security, the City Drug Rehabilitation Center was established on the basis of receiving all facilities, functions and tasks from Bau Bang Social Center (under the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs of Da Nang City). The City Police announced the decision to mobilize nearly 40 officers and soldiers to work at the unit, coordinating with the staff and employees currently working to quickly stabilize the organization and effectively implement drug rehabilitation activities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Colonel Nguyen Van Tang emphasized that the transfer of the Drug Rehabilitation Center to the City Police Department not only helps improve management efficiency but also creates favorable conditions for synchronous implementation of measures to prevent and combat drug abuse. Colonel Nguyen Van Tang requested the collective of officers, soldiers, civil servants and workers at the unit to promote a sense of responsibility, dedication and devotion to work; constantly improve professional qualifications and skills; closely coordinate with functional forces to effectively implement drug rehabilitation and post-rehabilitation management.

The transfer of management of drug rehabilitation facilities from the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to the Ministry of Public Security is currently being implemented nationwide according to Decree 02/2025/ND-CP of the Government. Accordingly, from March 1, 2025, the People's Public Security force will officially take over and manage the system of drug rehabilitation facilities nationwide.
