On the afternoon of September 26, within the framework of the 5th Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum, comrade Phan Van Mai, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, received Mr. Stefano Lo Russo, Mayor of Torino (Italy).
Expressing his joy at welcoming the Mayor of Torino to visit and work in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of attending the Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue and the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum in 2024, comrade Phan Van Mai believed that Mr. Stefano Lo Russo's visit would be a premise for many new projects and cooperation activities between Italy and Vietnam in general, Ho Chi Minh City and Torino in particular, helping the two sides better understand the potential and untapped cooperation opportunities.
Congratulating the two events of the Friendship Dialogue and the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum 2024 on their successful organization and expressing his impression of the dynamic development of Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Stefano Lo Russo said that there is a lot of potential for cooperation between the two cities and more specific steps are needed.
Discussing the direction of cooperation between the two cities, Mr. Stefano Lo Russo proposed the need to establish cooperation in the following areas: sharing experience in city management towards approaching the European Union (EU) standards set by the European Commission; cooperation between enterprises in areas of strength such as transport infrastructure, educational cooperation, culture, arts, and people-to-people exchange.
Regarding the issue of carbon neutrality, Mr. Stefano Lo Russo affirmed his willingness to send experts to the city to support and conduct surveys to promote more effective cooperation.
Agreeing with the cooperation proposals of the Mayor of Torino (Italy), Mr. Phan Van Mai affirmed that these are practical areas of cooperation that can be implemented in the coming time. In addition, with Italy's strengths in heritage conservation and restoration technology, the two sides need to promote cooperation in the field of heritage conservation.
Comrade Phan Van Mai expressed his wish for cooperation between institutes and schools to update research results on new trends, cooperate in training new research fields, as well as connect experts and share experiences in designing and implementing development policies.
