2024 is considered the year of promoting Vietnamese tourism to 5 continents with many outstanding activities. In the near future, many major events of world and Vietnamese tourism will be held in Quang Nam.
On December 9, within the framework of the First International Conference on Rural Tourism, the Second Annual Meeting of the UN Tourism Best Village Network will be held in Quang Nam. The Vietnam Tourism Promotion Conference 2025 will also be held here.
Empowering rural communities to develop sustainable tourism
According to information from the organizing committee, this year's annual meeting of the Best Tourism Villages Network of UN Tourism (United Nations Tourism Organization) will welcome 55 recognized villages from all over the world, including Tra Que Vegetable Village (Vietnam), the villages were selected from more than 260 applications from more than 60 member countries of the United Nations on tourism, 20 other villages were selected to participate in the Upgrade Program.
The Best Tourism Villages initiative is part of the “UN Tourism for Rural Development” program, which aims to promote development in rural areas, reduce population loss, promote innovation and value chain integration through tourism, and encourage sustainable practices.
“Tourism is an essential tool to promote inclusion, empower rural communities, protect and cherish their rich cultural heritage, and promote sustainable development,” said UN Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili. “The Best Tourism Villages initiative not only recognizes the achievements of its participating villages, but also highlights the transformative power of tourism.”
“By leveraging their unique advantages, these communities can drive economic growth, promote local traditions and improve the quality of life for their residents. We celebrate villages that have embraced tourism as a way to empower and benefit their communities, demonstrating that sustainable practices open up a brighter future for all,” General Zurab Pololikashvili stressed.
Recently, on November 15, 2024, Tra Que vegetable village (Quang Nam) became the only representative of Vietnam to be included in the list of 55 "Best tourist villages in the world" in 2024 voted by the United Nations Tourism Organization. Tra Que vegetable village is located in Tra Que village, Cam Ha commune, Hoi An, Quang Nam, formerly known as Nhu Que, growing aromatic vegetables such as cinnamon trees. Tra Que vegetable village still maintains the ancient method of growing organic vegetables, only growing spices such as onions, basil, perilla, coriander... and the way to take care of green vegetables here is also very meticulous.
Visiting Tra Que vegetable village, tourists will be guided by local people, introduced to how to plow the soil, sow seeds, water plants and harvest vegetables, learn more about the life of farmers as well as feel the simple life in the countryside. In addition, tourists will have the opportunity to participate in cooking classes, enjoy Hoi An specialties such as banh xeo, Quang noodles and fresh vegetables picked directly from Tra Que vegetable village.
2024, the year of tourism promotion
According to the plan from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, also on December 9, in Quang Nam, a conference on tourism promotion in 2025 will be held. Based on the results of tourism promotion in 2024, the conference will discuss the orientation and promotion plan for 2025. In particular, the aim is to organize promotion programs with focus, key points, large scale, bringing about high spread and efficiency.
Activities will focus on strongly promoting the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 with a series of outstanding events taking place throughout the year; promoting direct activities such as participating in fairs, organizing Vietnam tourism introductions, inviting KOLs, welcoming famtrip groups..., implementing online marketing campaigns. The tourism industry will also focus resources on markets with a large proportion of visitors, potential markets with quality...
Previously, 2024 was considered an effective year for tourism promotion activities of the entire industry. Vietnamese tourism has participated in major international tourism fairs such as WTM London, CITM China, ASEAN - China; organized many programs to introduce Vietnamese tourism in North America, Australia, China, Europe, ASEAN, India; organized Vietnamese tourism and cultural festivals in Tokyo, Kanagawa (Japan) and Korea; organized to welcome 10 Famtrip and Presstrip delegations from China, Japan, Korea, ASEAN, India, Australia, America, Europe, Taiwan (China).
In particular, the tourism and cinema promotion program held in Los Angeles, USA in September 2024 was successful with the Exhibition on Vietnamese cinema and tourism and the Program to introduce the potential of the cinema scene as well as Vietnam's policies on international cinema activities. This is considered an important promotional activity, creating an impression for the promotional activities in 2024 of the Vietnamese tourism industry.
Director of the National Tourism Administration Nguyen Trung Khanh said that according to the March 2024 ranking results of the global website rating and ranking site (similarweb.com), the website https://vietnam.travel promoting tourism abroad of the Administration ranked #132,676 in the world, surpassing the tourism website of Thailand (rank #136,108), and much higher than the Philippines (rank #808,295), Malaysia (rank #881,886).
The Director said that the digital media channels of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism are currently attracting a large number of visitors and are a regular source of reference information for press agencies, localities, and businesses./.
