According to Dan Tri reporters at Notre Dame Cathedral (District 1), although it is under renovation, this year the church is decorated splendidly to welcome Christmas very early. Millions of LED lights cover the two bell towers of the church.
Through historical periods, Notre Dame Cathedral has long become one of the symbols and destinations for people and tourists when coming to Ho Chi Minh City.
Notre Dame Cathedral is one of the four basilicas of Vietnam. This is a special honorary title that the Pope gives to some churches or holy places with ancient architecture, important in history, and spiritual value.
"I was surprised that Notre Dame Cathedral's Christmas decorations were so big this year. Even though it's under renovation, everything looks so sparkling in pictures," Anh Nguyet (21 years old, student at Hutech) shared.
Similarly, at Thi Nghe parish church (Binh Thanh district) with a history of more than 200 years, it is also decorated brightly in the days leading up to Christmas.
Mac-Ty-Nho Church, located not far away, is also splendidly decorated, lighting up a corner of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street.
Tan Dinh Church (District 3), affectionately known as the pink church, is also decorated with colorful lights and flowers to welcome Christmas.
Tan Dinh Church was built in 1870 and completed after 6 years under the supervision of Father Donatien Esveillard. Along with Notre Dame Cathedral, Tan Dinh is one of the 2 oldest churches in Ho Chi Minh City.
At Binh An Thuong Parish Church (District 8), in addition to decorating the nativity scene, the church also invested in an artificial snow machine for people to come and have fun and take pictures.
The artificial snow machine was installed by Binh An Thuong Parish Church nearly half a month ago. Every night, the machine operates for more than 1 hour to serve people checking in and having fun.
The Rosary Parish Church on Nguyen Thai Son Street (Go Vap District) does not decorate with many lights and flowers. Instead, the church invests in miniature landscapes.
Unlike many other churches that decorate the grotto, the Rosary parish church has a wooden house with an image of the baby Jesus in the manger, next to the Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph (foster father).
Not only decorating churches, many parishioners in Catholic neighborhoods in Go Vap district together lit lights and decorated small alleys with flowers.
Every Christmas season, many churches in Go Vap such as Ha Dong, Thai Binh, Bac Dung, An Nhon... are decorated brilliantly by parishioners. The most prominent of these is Bac Dung parish church. It is known that it takes more than 1 month to complete the decoration of miniature landscapes, nativity scenes, and LED lights.
"Although this year is not as big as every year, we still want to bring people a beautiful space to come and have fun and celebrate Christmas," said a parishioner at Bac Dung Church.
Located deep in an alley on Thong Nhat Street (Go Vap District), Bac Dung Parish Church still stands out with thousands of sparkling lights, attracting people to visit and have fun.
