With the momentum of pre-booked tickets and a huge number of screenings scheduled at theaters nationwide on the first day (more than 5,000 screenings per day), Tran Thanh's The Four Guardians quickly advanced to the number 1 spot at the box office, far surpassing the revenue of Nu hon bac bien (about 1,300 screenings), Yeu vo phan ban than (about 1,100 screenings). When the revenue "exploded": the first 3 days earned more than 115 billion VND, on the 4th the film earned an additional 42 billion VND, and on the 5th it earned nearly 43 billion VND, The Four Guardians was further increased by theater owners to more than 6,000 screenings per day, meaning screenings for other films had to be reduced. In summary, by the end of the 5th, according to statistics on Box Office Vietnam, the revenue of The Four Guardians reached the 200 billion VND mark (including pre-sold tickets). The billion-dollar kiss earned more than 41 billion VND while Love by mistake reached more than 10 billion VND.
Most of the audience commented that the Vietnamese films shown during Tet this year lacked creativity and had repetitive themes of comedy, love, and romance. In particular, public opinion is clearly divided when, in addition to many compliments for Tran Thanh's film The Four Guardians for being humorous and entertaining, the majority of the audience said that this was a step backward for Tran Thanh with an unimpressive script, a story lacking depth, superficial conflict resolution, and an excess of talkativeness (dialogue), humorous but lacking.
