Many attractive activities at the Festival "Lao Cai Brocade"

Festival “Lao Cai Brocade - Cultural Colors with the theme” with the theme “Sa Pa - Brocade of the Misty Clouds” is a tourism product branded by Lao Cai province, associated with preserving and promoting national cultural values, including developing brocade products to meet the needs of tourists.

This program contributes to the implementation of the Project of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on "Preserving and promoting traditional costumes of Vietnamese ethnic minorities in the current period" and the Project "Preserving and promoting fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development, 2024" of Lao Cai province.

At the same time, it creates opportunities for units, localities, actors (artisans), brocade cooperatives, and businesses to exchange, learn, and share experiences in preserving, exploiting, and developing ethnic brocade, serving socio-economic development and tourism.

Lao Cai, the frontier land of the Fatherland, where the Red River flows into Vietnam, has always been firmly at the forefront throughout history. On this land, there are 25 ethnic groups living together, creating, building and developing a land rich in cultural identity. Along with the golden season of terraced fields, along with the scent of the forest and mountain wind, along with the white fog flying all year round, no one can help but miss and be amazed by the colorful brocade costumes of the ethnic people.

Each ethnic group has its own creations of brocade costumes. Regardless of the color or pattern, they all exude a very unique and attractive beauty.

Each piece of fabric is not only a material product, but also carries spiritual value, expressing the unique identity of each ethnic group's culture; associated with stories about life, culture, love, legends, myths...; is a true way of thinking about the lifestyle of an entire ethnic community.

The image of women sitting engrossed in their looms, quietly weaving colorful brocade fabrics has left an impression on the minds of travelers on every journey to explore Sa Pa, Bac Ha and the villages in Lao Cai.

For generations, brocade has been preserved and passed down by the elderly to their children and grandchildren. Just like that, the folk cultural sedimentary deposits in the lands and villages are always full of humanistic values, always diverse in types and enriched over the years. Lao Cai-Sa Pa, the land of mist and clouds and brocade colors, lingers on visitors from all over.

Festival activities are organized safely, economically, attractively, effectively, artistically and highly appealing, associated with promoting and developing tourism programs after the impact of storm No. 3.

The 2024 Lao Cai Brocade Festival with the theme "Sa Pa - Brocade of the Misty Land" will take place from November 8, 2024 to November 10, 2024, at No. 2 Fansipan, Sa Pa town, Lao Cai province with many exciting activities.

Specifically, from November 8 to November 11, 2024, at the multi-purpose house, there will be a performance on brocade and an introduction of brocade products. Here, visitors will experience the process of producing traditional ethnic brocade using tools, artifacts, photos, excerpts and panels...; art introducing Lao Cai's national intangible cultural heritages related to brocade such as: decorative art on Red Dao costumes, costume making of Black Mong people, decorative art on Nung Din costumes, brocade embroidery art on Flower Mong costumes, weaving of Dao Ho people in Bao Thang district, weaving of Thu Lao people in Si Ma Cai district... Displaying brocade products such as pillows, blankets, bags, paintings, applied costumes and other gift products, souvenirs... at Sa Pa Museum.

From 7:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on November 9, 2024, at No. 2 Fansipan, the Lao Cai Brocade Festival - Cultural Colors will take place with the theme "Sa Pa Brocade of the Misty Clouds". The art program is a story about brocade, the crystallization of the ingenuity, hands, and intelligence of ethnic women, a place to entrust dreams, aspirations, and weave nostalgia.

The program is associated with the introduction and demonstration of applied costumes of designers of brocades of the Mong, Dao, Xa Pho, Giay and Tay ethnic groups, thereby creating connections and spreading cultural and tourism products, the beauty of the life of Sa Pa, Lao Cai. Through this, it affirms the strength of multiculturalism, rich in identity, contributing to honoring, preserving and developing the culture of ethnic groups in Lao Cai province, in order to attract investment and development, especially in the field of tourism, creating unique economic - cultural tourism products.

From November 9, 2024 (extended according to the actual experience needs of tourists), at the multi-purpose house and Sa Pa Museum, there will be an exhibition and art installation introducing culture and applied brocade in life. Through the design of exhibition and art installation plans introducing culture and applied brocade, visitors will be immersed in the cultural and art installation space "Sa Pa - the land of mist and clouds", learning about products made from brocade such as costumes, bags, pillows, etc. Through special and novel art installations, an impressive brocade world with brilliant colors will be brought. This space is open to serve long-term tourists at the Tourism Information and Promotion Center (in Sa Pa).
