By the afternoon of February 3 (December 24), at the Tet flower village along the Ha Thanh River (in Dong Da Ward, Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province), thousands of flower pots had not yet been purchased by traders.
Garden owners have transported flowers and ornamental plants to the spring flower market on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street (Quy Nhon City) to sell, but purchasing power is very slow.

According to flower growers here, at this time last year, many garden owners had sold more than half of their flowers. However, this year, they have only sold a few dozen pots, and flower growers are worried as if they were sitting on a bed of fire.

While counting the number of flowers including large chrysanthemums and crystals, war invalid Huynh Tan Le (69 years old, Dong Da ward, Quy Nhon city) said that when he was still healthy, his family grew over 1,000 pots, but in the past 2 years it has decreased to 500-600 pots because business is increasingly difficult.
According to Mr. Le's calculation, not including the care costs, from sowing to selling, the cost is about 380,000 VND/pot, so it must be sold for 500,000 VND/pot or more to make a profit.
"That's just a wish, but whether to bring flowers to the Tet flower market depends on the customer. Many people wait until the 30th of Tet to buy cheap flowers because they think they can't sell them," Mr. Le said sadly.

The anxiety was also evident on the face of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tung Van (61 years old, Dong Da ward). According to Mrs. Van, this year her family planted 700 pots of chrysanthemums, large flowers, and crystals of all kinds, but so far they have only sold a few dozen pots.
"The weather this year is very favorable, there are no storms so the flowers grow well, the flowers bloom beautifully and right on Tet, but this year there are no traders. Taking care of the flower pots until they are ready to sell is very meticulous and hard, from morning to night working hard in the garden. At the end of the year, I just hope to sell all the flowers to make a little profit to prepare for Tet for my family, but with this kind of sluggishness, I don't dare think about Tet," Ms. Van shared.

Ms. Van added that last year, some traders broke pots and chopped down flowers because customers offered too low a price. A normal chrysanthemum pot sells for 700,000-800,000 VND, but on New Year's Eve, customers paid the lowest price, only 100,000 VND, and then left. That's why traders were so upset that they "would rather break them than sell them cheaply". Some people transported flowers to give to pagodas.

"Depending on the size, I sell small pots for 400,000 VND/pot, large pots are mainly sold to companies for 2 million VND/pot. However, on the night of the 30th of Tet, customers paid down 100,000 VND, not enough to pay for care, not to mention the money for seeds, fertilizer, and parking space," Ms. Van confided.
In addition, Ms. Van suggested that the management unit for renting the parking lot at the Tet flower market on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street (Quy Nhon City) needs to have a common price according to regulations; to avoid the situation of auctioning and then pushing up the price to several tens of millions of VND per lot, the profit from selling flowers is not enough to pay the parking lot rental fee.
