The White House suddenly fired a series of senior staff

At least three members of the National Security Council (NSC) were fired just a day after Loomer, who once claimed that 9/11 was an “internal conspiracy,” presented Trump with a list of officials suspected of disloyalty, according to people familiar with the matter.

Among the officials fired were Brian Walsh, the intelligence director who was a senior aide to Secretary of State Marco Rubio; Thomas Boodry, the senior director for legislative affairs; and David Feith, a technology and national security expert from Mr. Trump’s first term.

Notably, Deputy National Security Advisor Alex Wong - who was publicly criticized by Loomer as a "Never Trumper" - still retains his position but is said to be likely to be replaced in the near future.

When asked about the firings, Mr. Trump asserted: "We always let go of people who are not competent or disloyal." However, he denied that Loomer directly interfered in personnel decisions, describing her as "a very good patriot."

The secret meeting between Mr. Trump and Loomer took place at the same time the White House was preparing to announce new tariff policies.

This is not the first time far-right activists have influenced the Trump administration’s personnel policies. Previously, activist Christopher Rufo published internal messages that led to Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard firing a number of staff.

During the 2024 campaign, Loomer's frequent appearances at Trump's side and her controversial social media posts were often seen as a harbinger of his next moves.
