On March 28, the National Innovation Center (NIC), FPT Semiconductor Company and technology partners organized the opening ceremony of the Semiconductor Incubation and Development Center (VSIC) and the FPT-ALCHIP Semiconductor Startup Incubation Space.

This event marks the cooperation between the State, enterprises, international partners and promises to promote the development of Vietnam's semiconductor industry.

Mr. Vu Quoc Huy, Director of NIC, said that the opening of VSIC and FPT-ALCHIP marks another important step in realizing the Party and State's policies and orientations on breakthroughs in science, technology and innovation, including promoting public-private partnership and the "3-house" model to develop the semiconductor industry in Vietnam, thereby contributing to realizing the goal of training 50,000 semiconductor engineers (by 2025) and having 100 chip design enterprises.

Mr. Tran Dang Hoa, Chairman of FPT IS and Chairman of FPT Semiconductor, shared that the cooperation with partners to open the Semiconductor Incubation and Development Center will create more opportunities for Vietnamese engineers, improving quality and development conditions.

Committing that the Vietnamese Government always accompanies businesses, Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyen Duc Tam highly appreciated the effective cooperation between NIC, FPT and partners in developing the semiconductor industry ecosystem. He emphasized that close cooperation between the public and private sectors will create an ecosystem and develop sustainable human resources, helping Vietnam not only catch up but also gradually progress and rise in global technology trends.

Deputy Minister Tam also welcomed Alchip's decision to expand its operations in Vietnam and suggested that the unit continue to closely coordinate with NIC and Vietnamese partners to develop the semiconductor industry supply chain.

"The Ministry of Finance will always accompany businesses and domestic and foreign partners to promote the development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam," Mr. Tam affirmed.

Recently, the Ministry of Finance has assigned the National Innovation Center (NIC) to cooperate with leading domestic and foreign technology corporations and enterprises to actively and effectively implement many programs and activities. Specifically, NIC has coordinated with FPT to provide short-term training scholarships for hundreds of students in the field of semiconductors and provide technical support on microchip design for about 40 universities in Vietnam.

Mr. Vu Quoc Huy, Director of NIC, said that the VSIC Center initiative is an important step in forming a physical center for incubation, business development, technology and human resources, creating a favorable environment for experts, engineers, lecturers and students to research and access advanced technology, gradually master technology and develop Vietnamese startups in the semiconductor field. This initiative comes from a project between NIC and FPT (first implemented in 2024), which has provided scholarships on microchip design and technical support to over 40 leading technical universities in Vietnam./.

In the digital age, the semiconductor industry plays a key role in driving global economic growth. The development of technology, from smartphones to self-driving cars, depends on semiconductor chips. With the advantage of a young and dynamic workforce, Vietnam is actively building the foundation for this potential industry.

The Party and Government's guidelines, mechanisms and policies (such as Resolution 57 of the Politburo and Decisions 1017 and 1018 of the Prime Minister) have emphasized the importance of developing the semiconductor industry and considered it one of the top priorities. Accordingly, the public-private partnership model, also known as the "3-house" model (State - School - Enterprise) is considered the key to realizing this goal.
